Default Insurance and swapping out to stock parts question

(before i ask insurance) Is it it okay to put the stock parts of a 03-05 z onto my 06? such as the taillights and the rims, since they are considerably noticeable in difference in look?
i ask because 1) first totaled car and experience with one 2) i do not know the process of changing out my aftermarket with my stock
thanks

ya, swap away, most don't insurance adjusters don't know any better on the difference in trims......

you can even ask to be there when the adjuster comes out........if he seems like a cool guy you can just straight up tell him, im taking these parts.......so long as they aren't part of what was damaged or cause of accident, etc, they don't care..

Since it's totalled, they definitely don't care. It's more-than-likely going to a junk yard anyway.

As someone who works in the insurance field (and was a former adjuster), I will say be careful. TreefiddyZee's comment is a bit misguided because by changing the parts, you are changing the salvage value of the car. Now JasonZ-ya is sort of right in that some of the guys wouldn't know the difference between the 06 LED's and the 03-05 bulb tails...nor do they know the value to us Z guys.

However, the guys going to see the vehicle are usually car guys and are getting younger and younger. Lots of them know the difference.

Now if you totaled the car and they are going to compensate you for the aftermarket stuff you have, or in other words, you scheduled the special equipment, you have to leave it on there because they are paying you for the parts. However, if you did not schedule the special equipment on the car, replaceing those items with stock items is completely acceptable...and I would highly encourage you to do so.

The best thing you can do is talk with the insurance rep and ask the questions you want the answers to. If you want to double check if they are giving you straght information, just let me know and I will confirm it for you.

Feel free to ask any other questions on insurance stuff you want and I will do my best to give you solid information. That goes for anyone else who needs insurance info/help on the fourm.
