voting for a comic book action hero? Who knows anything about Arnold other than through his movies.

Why not vote against the recall and give Arnold a chance to show us he can be governor before the next election. The next election isn't that far off.

Makes sense to me. But what if the 'governator' decided not to run next election? We could miss out on the opportunity to have a movie star as the leader of the 5th(?) largest economy in the world!

This is all just for fun anyway, right? I mean, if it was serious, this thread would be asking "why", not just 'who".

I do realize the purpose of this thread was probably just for BullishZ to post the fun picture of Arnold, so I don't want to change it to some real discussion.

I'm voting NO on the recall, and not sure who yet will get my vote on the second question.

Scaf... after all this time... YOU STILL KNOW ME WELL!

I didn't want to be too opinionated in my original post... but I anticipated that others would post more detailed reasons for their choices.

Why am I voting for Arnold? I have some dumb reasons... and some that make more sense.

First the dumb reasons. This will actually be the first time I vote. I know I know... I'm one of those lazy asses. So... I want to always remember... the first guy I ever voted for in my life... Was the TERMINATOR! haha. Also, we do live in the Hollywood area... and how cool would it be to have a big-time actor run the entire show??? LOL!

Ok, now a bit more serious. I know each political parties have their own agendas and such... but I think Arnold will actually do a good job as a "business-minded" governor. Reducing deficit spending, taxing the indian gaming tribes, and even keeping the community college costs high are all better solutions to California's economic problems than raising taxes and collecting taxes on car registrations. Well, I don't wanna get into it too much because I don't wanna get flamed on...

BUT! Let's say I'm about 50-50 between my dumb reasons and the more serious reasons... as to why my vote will go to Ah-nold.

What did Arnold do to convince us that he will be 'business-minded' or anything else? He may have a great future in politics but I'd certainly like him to be involved politically for more than a few weeks before I would have any confidence in him. All of his statements so far are vague cliches.

OhOh Bullish you got me taking this thread seriously again. I know that your trying to distract yourself from worrying about Kobe.

McClintock is my first choice, but I don't think he can win, so I'm voting for Arnold.

Arnold isn't bad, though. I think he can and will do exactly what California needs. I have no doubts that he's smarter, wiser, and knows more about business and the economy than Davis and Bustamante. He's not as experienced poltically, but look where Davis's and Bustamante's experience got us.

The only reason McClintock is able to get as much support as he has is because Democrats like Bustimante and Indian Gaming interestes are promoting him so heavily in order to divide and conquer the Republican vote.

The difference in McClintock and Schwarnenegger won't come into play for a few more years. Arnold is a true liberal, when he can afford to be (just like most humans, I think). He's not a socialist like Davis, Bustamante and Camejo. Arnold wants to bring back businesses to increase tax revenue so we can afford more government programs. Arnold should be a Democrat while Davis & Bustimante should be running for office in some other country.

McClintock, on the other hand, recognizes that all these programs are failing those people who they're supposed to help, and not making California better, but worse. I don't think most Californians are willing to face that. Also, he doesn't want to stop increasing taxes, but cut them.

Arnold is all for leaving issues alone that aren't in center stage, and that's fine with me at this point. McClintock, though, is for second amendment rights, so I'd prefer that.

Bustamante talks about spending money on education, and buying more books, but he never mentions how poorly our schools are doing for the huge amounts of money we spend on them. On his prop 54 commercials and plugs, he *never* says what prop 54 is, because he knows that most people would disagree with him.

Voting NO on the recall is voting YES on corruption. If it were up to me, we'd be voting on whether or not we should let Davis live! (Then maybe I'd vote NO.)

Uh, does running multi-million dollar businesses do anything for you? And what in the world makes you think Davis is business-minded, or even governor-minded?

I think the best thing we could do for this state is to keep Davis in charge, but do the exact opposite of everything he says. Too bad that's not an option.

What businesses are/were those?
I know about Planet Hollywood, but I think that business failed.

I'm searching around joinarnold.com, but haven't found a list of the multi-million dollar businesses yet. Please help.

Weird.

All I could find was a reference that he had bought some property in Santa Monica, "It was the beginning of a successful real estate and business career".

That's all.

Except for a blurb at schwarzenegger.com that says he sold a diet supplement via mail order back in the 70's.

Unless someone can show otherwise, I think it's fair to eliminate being successful at running multi-million businesses from his list of qualifications.

Ok, here ya go. And it's a hell of a lot more than Gray "Shade" Davis or Tax-Boostamante have ever done.

P.S. Sorry about that name mangling. That's not my style. It's just that it's getting close to the election and I was afraid I'd never get a chance to use them.
