Default Will my Z pass smog with...

I need to smog my Z, but I have an exhaust, intake, and an intake manifold. With these mods, will it fail a pre visual inspection? I imagine a lot of folks in here have similar mods and have had to smog their vehicle in California.

Anyway, if anyone can chime in I would appreciate it, thanks.

Also, people that have smoged their vehicle that just have exhuast. Since I can easily just take off the intake. Have you guys had trouble passing smog?

I dont know if I can answer your question because every set-up is slightly different...

I live in Cali too, and last time I went to get my car smogged, the tech asked to see the "california emissions approved sticker" (or something like that) for the aftermarket parts. I was like Whattttt?!?! The tech said that if I didnt have the stickers then he wont even try to smog me. But, he did say that I could call the aftermarket manufacturers and have them confirm to him that the parts have been certified. So after a long while on the phone with HKS and Apexi ....I found the parts were still pending approval... SO I just said F that cuz the tech was being a douch by then. I drove to a new smog location, and the new tech was cool, didnt ask a word, and smoged me in 20 mins... I guess it all depends on the business

I just got my car smog checked yesterday and it passed with a Borla True Dual exhaust (I'm in San Diego btw). I notified the inspector about my aftermarket exhaust prior to him doing the test and he said it would probably be ok. As long as you have your stock cats then you will probably pass. I'd ask the inspector about it before you have it done just to be safe.

Obviously you will fail and face a potential $5,000 fine and incarceration for a maximum of 5 years.

Your car shouldn't take an actual tail pipe test, it will take an OBD II test where they will connect to your computer and check for any fault codes, as long as there are no codes (which there shouldn't be from the mods listed as long as you still have cats), a visual inspection is another story.
Best to call one of the testing facilities and ask them.
I lived in Cali in 02 and my rx-7 passed with intake and exhaust so it might not be a problem.

Got smogged in May with Nismo intake, Motordyne spacer, and Greddy exhaust and passed without issue.

The exhaust will pass emissions testing as long as it has all factory catalytic equipment and the intake should be fine with an caliornia air research board (carb) sticker.

The only issue you would have to worry about would be the aftermarket intake manifold because it alters the way fuel is delivered into the system.

I just got smogged this week. Initially failed but after doing diagnostic, they got it to pass! I have headers, kinetix hi flow cats, nismo exhaust and pop charger. I also got my ECU reflashed by TechnoSquare so that may have made the difference.

Good to hear that you passed.

Mine recently failed due to the hi-flow cats. Put stock cats back on and it passed with flying colors. Mine has a stock intake and stock ecu.
