$180 to get it processed at the court clerk? That shouldn't be right since the processing fees should all be the same regardless of what violations unless they increased the processing fee for each violation to $180...

That sucks. Count your blessings though... Tint tickets here are >$280 PER WINDOW. Legal limit here is 35%, and I had 20% all around. That's 5 windows at over $280 each.

fix it ticket for tint is $25, if you have proof of correction. Its $180 if you dont correct it. I got one a month and a half ago, but i went darker to match the rear after i got it sign off. You can also switch plates with someone with same color car without tint and get it sign off and just pay the $25.

our blessing? we aren't allowed to have tint at all.. 35% would be a blessing under this heat..

OP, are u sure the cop gave you a fix it ticket? he could write non correctable and you'd have to pay probably 180$.. if it's a fix it, should be just 20$ for court

I thought the CA fix it tickets went up this year. Anyway I think the tint laws are ridiculous in this state, especially living in the IE, where the temps get above 100F in the summer. Lets just fry sitting in traffic so the cops can have an "easier" time seeing suspects in the cars.

I don't understand the complaining. Everyone knows the tint laws and what is legal and illegal. If you choose to run a dark tint, just pay the fines and don't complain. Otherwise, make sure your windows are tinted legally and then there is no problem.

^No tinting of front windows on Z/or any vehicle allowed in CA period. Only what comes from the factory.

lmao +1, what did they expect? if you get caught, not only should you expect to at least pay the court fee but guess what? the tint goes bye bye and the money you paid to get the tint done goes bye bye. did you expect to be able to keep the tint and only pay the court fee instead of a citation type fee? lol. follow the law and you wont need to ***** about it. i fukd up a few months ago and didnt get my car registered on time. got a citation and forgot about the court date. i paid $180 and didnt complain cause you know, i fukd up.

Complaint aside, let's just clarify:

$180 if you just pay the fee and decide to keep your tint right?

I got a tint ticket a couple years back and was facing close to the same charge. Got it corrected and it only came out to like $25 dollars processing.

If it's a straight up fine then damn! That's a price hike!

Most of the fine is court fees which include law enforcement fees. I got a front plate ticket and ended up paying around $176 dollars. I couldn't put a front plate because I sold the car and I couldn't get it dismissed because the court gave me the run around.

Switching plates with another person would be a risky move. If they check the VIN, I suspect both owners might be in a bit of trouble.

here the ticket is $125 for tints... the cops will tell you that you can leave the tint on but you risk getting pulled over again and ticketed for $125.

When the tint laws came out there were actually points associated with the ticket which basically forced you to remove it. (even though they did no inspection on the actual vehicle when you appeared at court)

I just got a tint ticket as well not to long ago. Double check your official court papers (if u haven't gotten them yet then wait). Mine was 25$ if i removed the tint then had it checked, or 180$ if I chose to just pay for the ticket.

That's the dumbest thing ever, there's something called a license plate number on the ticket. All they do is match the ticket with the plates on the car & bam they don't sign off.

the whole idea of the switch is to switch YOUR plate onto a matching car that has no tint.. so the cops see the same plate and sign it off.. 99% of chance they don't dig your vin.
