SoCal07HR's Build thread
Thanks guys! I'm trying so hard to keep it all grade A parts, just the good stuff. It gets hard when I look at all of the money spent and I start thinking I could be so much farther along if I would have gone a little cheaper, but no plans to go with anything sub-par as of now. I just need some motivation.
Picked up some used JIC Monotubes and had JIC rebuild them. I'm running 10k fronts and 8k rears with the SPL front and rear camber arms, midlinks, and compression rod bushings. Got it aligned at West End Alignment, -2 degrees camber front with zero toe and 9 degrees caster and -1 degree camber rear with 1/16 total toe in. It Is unbeleivable how it drives and handles. Here's a pic. I'll post more of my setup this weekend.

Update: had the car setup great, my alignment at Westend Alignment was awesome and I would recomend Darin and Chris to anyone in SoCal who needs and alignment.

Everything was awesome with the car, did a few track days and a buttload of mountain runs, then somewhere along the line I got the idea into my head that I wanted a C5 ZO6 Corvette and I began to part out the Z and I put her all back to stock in preparation to sell her.

Then one day I was at RobiSpec in Hesperia picking up a sparco evo2 for an EF Civic I was building as a fun cheap little track car and got to talking to Robi about Z's. He had a 350z chassis he'd been wanting to build up if he found someone to buy it. I agreed to go look at the car and we drove over to his house where it was stored.

We looked at the car for a while and discussed his plans for it and we discussed building it for about an hour. My plan then was to sell my Z and use the money to buy and build the RobiSpec 350z. So I took my red Z down to CarMax to off it and when it came down to it, I just couldn't bring myself to sell her.

So I called Robi, told him I couldn't do it, but after having discussed a 350z track car build that I would like to build my red car. I have been working away stripping my Z and preping it for a cage. I'm hoping to get it up there to have the cage built on the next couple weeks and we have some really cool tricks planned that I will share along the way. Here are some pictures of the progress I have made so far.

The speaker box and rear strut member will be getting cut out before the cage goes in and I plan to build the car a little differently suspension-wise than I had it before. Thanks for reading, sorry for the long read. Stay tuned!
Ohh I forgot to mention, I ordered a set of Momentum Performance solid aluminum motor and transmission mounts. I've seen some pictures of the steering shaft clearance on HR equipped 350z's with longtube headers installed and just don't think there is enough clearance not to run solid mounts. I will be building my cage, chassis, and suspension first bit I plan to do a mild NA HR build when that is done and I will be running longtube headers. I'll document my build here in this thread as well as I can and I will be sure to take lots of pictures for you guys.
