Tire Size Recommendations??
I recently purchased my Volk Te37s (19x8.5 Front & 19.9.5 Rear).
While set on front tire sizes, I've been looking at various tire sizes for the rears and I'm still undecided.
285/30/19
285/35/19
295/35/19
275/30/19

Anyone have any opinions/recommendations on any of these sizes? There is a Mustang Cobra parked outside my office building with 285/35's and they look pretty good.

I have 19" Volk GT-7's, front 19x8.5", +23mm offset, rear 19x9.5", + 24mm offset.
I went with front: 245/35/19 and 275/35/19. Not one of the sizes you listed, but there it is.
If you're set on your front sizes, I'm not sure why you want to run a different sidewall on your rears. ??

As iris said, the proper size for the car and the wheels you chose is 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 front to back. The sidewall height and outside diameter is correct, and the car will handle noticably better then with stock sizes.

Iris,
This is where I read about the idea. Let me know what they say when you ask them why they vary front/rear tire height in their wheel & tire packages.

Go here and you'll see 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 Toyos as the recommended choice.

I'm running the following:
Front - 19x8.5 +22 offset w/ 245/35-19
Rear - 19x10.5 +35 offset w/ 275/30-19
These sizes were specified by Volk for this car.
Love the way it drives and looks. Can't wait to get it on the track.

Was wondering if 235/40/18 front Toyo T1S would mess the ride up.
Also how about 245/45/18 Rear. Or what size should I get for the rear. The dealer has already purchased the front ones for me. Need help quick..
Thanks

sounds good to me. However I have noticed that typically the tire height on the rears is equal to or less than the fronts on most high performance exotics (Guess they want to keep the back end as closeto the ground as possible. Maybe go with 245/40/18's or 245/35/18's in back.
1. 35 series is the percent of the tire width thus a 35 series tire that is a 245 wide is a smaller wall ht than a 35 series tire in a 275 width for example. The outside diameter is what is important ie ABS, VCD etc...
2. The wider the tire, more wt but better grip. If you look at Road and Track where the motorX 350Z had my tire sizes 295/265, it pulled a .94 laterial G vs .91 on the 275/245 combo on other Z's. the article itself points out the added grip of the wider tire as the reason. I would ask yourself if you are going to mod the motor such as FI. If so, bigger tire with added hp would be a good combo. If you keep the motor stock and want an extra 1-2 hp feel in the butt dyno measurement, the 275/245 combo might be a better choice.
3. Not everything is based on logic. A sports car is not logical compared to other cars that carry more people etc. What do you like, you mentioned 285's? If you like it, that is all that matters. Remember, 17" wheels are better performing tires, if you dont believe it, check out what guys that track their Z's are using. The fact is many guys put 19" wheels on their Z for looks thus if you like the look of a 285 vs 275, the it is the same thing but in this case, you will get more grip. Good luck!

great feedback. I knew larger diameter wheels/tires slowed the car down, but always questioned why exotics come equipped with them (just based soley on looks? (i.e. the new 2005 Mercedes SLR Mclaren comes with 255/35/19's up front and 295/30/19s in back, because 17's would like kinda stupid on a $450,000 car??)
Ok, I have gotte the 235/40/18 Toyo T1-S for the front tires. (dealer purchased)
Now what should I get for the rear to make the car look good, and the ride not suffer.
options
275/35/18
245/45/18
275/40/18
Any help would be helpful.

Scott...and a couple other people have it right. The aspect ratio is just that....a ratio of height to width. So a 245/35 will be shorter than a 275/35. The reason I know this is becuase i have the 245/35 and 275/35 setup, and the rear tires is materially taller than the front. Next time, I will get a 275/30 for the rear.

Stick with what you have. If you get a 30 series rear, your front and rear Outer Daimeters will be same, and you'll kill the stagger. I'm assuming you don't have VDC, but you do have slip. Eather of them would not like the fronts and rears being the same, and will let you know it by flashing the light. Also, the car is built for proper handling with the stagger, it shouldn't be messed with.

Also... as far as running small diameter wheels. Top speed gets sacrificed with small wheels. You always have an accelleration/top speed tradeoff. This is why some exotics may also choose larger wheels.
