Got Beat Up this Weekend

In all seriousness, f them. Let them sit in a cage for a week or two like the animals they are.
I would most certainly press charges and contact an attorney as well. Tell him what you told us and see what he thinks on the matter. Hey at the very least you can take them to civil court and get your pizza money back

Animals like that should not be on the streets, you have to press charges to have then removed from the street.
I'm all about no cops for a good old clean fight over some BS between boys, but something like this, hell no.

Sorry to that Andy. I've been on both sides of a fight and IMO it always sucks. You're a nice guy who definitely doesn't deserve that. I think you should do everything you can to hold these guys accountable. The best course of action to do that is pressing charges.

Wow! The cops told you not to press charges? Screw that! They attacked you for no reason and now you are in pain and suffering (assuming).
It would be different if it was a bar fight, or the fight was partially your fault. But these guys sound like real *******s.
Call your lawyer, and explain to him what happened. That's assault and battery, if it's on camera, open and shut case.
Don't let people like that go unpunished.

Sorry to see this happen to such a nice guy
Hopefully you're feeling better Andy
I saw a case where 3 men attacked one off duty corrections officer in a food store, after he asked them to stop harassing the cashier (the three men were drunk). The police talked him out of pressing charges because they were known street thugs. A week later, the 3 guys signed a complaint against the victim claiming he assaulted them. In the end, both sides ended up dropping the complaints and the attackers got away with it.

Gang initiation.
If you press charges, they can get a police report with your name and info and retaliate whenever they feel like dropping by to visit you at your place - that is my guess as to why the cop was trying to save you "more trouble than it is worth".
If you are going to be out and about in high crime areas, I'd suggest getting a concealed carry license and make sure you end up on your back with them on top. It worked out well for George Zimmerman, and it sounds like the world might be better off with these two criminals pushing up daisies.
For anyone with their Jimmies rustled, that was sarcasm. If you get jumped by an unprovoked attacker that isn't a lethal threat and that doesn't cause you any lasting damage, the possibilities are endless and primarily depend on your own personality and beliefs. But you should worry more about what to learn from the situation than retribution. What could you have done to avoid the situation? How could you have been prepared with your defenses up so you minimized/eliminated injuries? I'd suggest improving your situational awareness, because if these guys had been a lethal threat, you would be dead right now because you weren't prepared.
