License plate PERSHON

Not very cool man... Especially on a 2 lane road where people will swerve to miss the stupidest stuff and go into oncoming traffic...

Some years ago on my bicycle, I pulled up in the right lane behind another cyclist waiting at a stoplight. I n the left lane two inked up gangster types pulled up in a new M6 BMW and the passenger flicked out a cigarette butt. The dude in front of me casually reached down and picked it up. As the light turned green and the BMW took off he slyly tossed the butt back into the open rear window of the BMW. At the next light I was sure I could see whiffs of smoke rising from the back seats.

Not wanting to get in the middle of a something ugly, I pulled ahead and made a right turn in order to get out of there. The anti-litter dude decided that ‘discretion might actually be the better part of valor after all and followed me in hightailing it to a different cross-town route.

Well, i'd say if you toss out a lit cigarette butt out the car.. getting a cigarette burn in your seats is fair punishment.

I hate that crap. If you're OK with smoking in your vehicle, you are OK to put the cigarette out in your ash tray (or better yet, an old water bottle). I do not want to see that bouncing trash flying towards my car while I'm driving behind you.

They're not aiming at you but that doesn't matter. if i threw a bag of marbles out the window and it hit your windshield, you'd be pretty pissed regardless of whether or not it was intentional "aimed" at you. Someone is throwing trash out the window not giving a **** that it will hit someone else. It's disrespectful and inconsiderate.

I've called multiple times with a plate number here in TX -- I've even received calls back letting me know that they've issued a citation. Some states take it more seriously than others...

Exactly.

I know a cigarette butt won't do any harm, but it's the thought that counts. If you are fine with sparking up a cigarette and smoking in your vehicle, you are OK with putting it out in your own built in ash tray or water bottle. I'm sorry if you don't want to "get ash inside or stink up your car," you should have that about that before you started smoking.
