Default Smog test

I am thinking of getting LBMS test pipes or hi/flow/cats and was wonder if anyone knows how often we will have to have the Z smogged (I have a 03). Also how hard would it be to swap out test pipes for stock cats when the time came?

Thanks

I doubt the smoggers look underneath the car to see if you are missing cats... do they? If you pass the visual inspection and assuming that the "test pipes" that you get have sensor connectors for the OBII, there shouldn't be a problem passing smog. Z's are pretty clean buring cars. If not, pls let me know! B/C I am considering going straight too... pure straight. *lol*

ps.. I forget how much the penalty is if they catch you running straight pipes. $1000?

can't pass smog at all if you go with test pipes. Also but you rarely see it is those portable smog stations that the cops put up and randomly test your car. Just like those DUI checkpoints during new years. If you fail and see that you don't have the cats on worse case scenario is a $3800 fine. Like I said you rarely see the cops do the random testing and I've only seen it twice up in santa clarita.

Your car won't pass the sniffer with test pipes. Swapping the cats is an hour start to finish (at least with a lift). My car with RT Cat's, cams, ECU.....etc, passes the sniffer just fine. We've run mine on the smog machine half a dozen times now doing various tests.
