in my situation its a little different. i HATE my stickers. i hate all of them. BUT, for the amount of $$ that i have in my car i have spent about 1/8 the total cost out of my pocket. Thats what happens when you pick up sponsors and sign contracts with those companies. Once the contracts are up and i have promoted for them to their satisfaction(or when there is a new hot trend that i'm no longer needed for) then the stickers come off. And especially for shooting with the magazines the stickers have be be very visable for people to see. and i just got done shooting nopi street mag and edge mag. (plus some mags i did in the past) and if you don't want to burn any bridges with a future projects then you keep the sticker on at all times (between the shows and shoots) But fear not the contracts with 99% of them are done so there will be a very stealth looking roll call and that will be it. as for the body kit and wheels i like it just the way they are cuz i think it makes my car look different from the others and with so many on the road i like to be different.

oh and for keeping the cops off my a$$ there is nothing i can do but not do anything stupid or wrong just like all the rest of us. if they want to pull you over they will no matter what car it is. my dad's friend got pulled over in his m5 and the cop tried to give him a ticket for his headlights being too bright.....the stock OEM lights! sometimes you can never win!

I agree with you here. I've been pulled over in EVERY type of car. Stock SUV, luxury cruiser, old econo beater, a van. Haven't gotten any tickets yet *knock on wood* But a cop can find any minor infraction to pull you over.

Here in Socal theres sooooo many modified cars that i'm not going to refrain from modding to remain inconspicuous . If I get a ticket then I get a ticket.
Z's are already a big target so what's a few mods going to hurt?

truth is there isn't jack **** you can do to protect yourselves from an a-hoe cop. If he wants, he can basically write you a ticket for anything he can find in the book. In the end you're screwed because you have to end up wasting your time in court. Not only that but you also pay a fee to get clearance.. it's a hassle and that's the main reason why I decided on a german car this time around. Funny thing is, I got pulled over for no front license plate but I see every benzo around here without a plate... wtf

I have been involved in the Import/Sport Compact Scene "what ever you want to call it" since 1995. I have faced just about every situation out there concerning police offices and my modified cars. In one year i received close to 20 fix it tickets for various things. And I was on the "black list" in Carson, Ca. The police officers have been trying to curb the street racing problem by giving out tons of fix it tickets. Their goal is to give out enough tickets and harrass enough people to get them to stop fixing up their cars and street racing. Unfortuanality they havent learned that no matter what they do people will still continue to fix up their cars, and some will street race.
There is no defense from a A**hole cop. But just know your laws. When it comes to exhaust the most popular ticket out there was "loudness" but some cities have added their own codes. You can get a ticket in Carson, Torrance, Long Beach, and in some of the surrounding cites for have a modified exhaust period. It doesnt matter if its carb legal or under 95dbs. The Code that they go by is " Modified exhaust, not showroom stock" And i didnt belive it until i got pulled over in my accord. And for those that havent seen my accord" it was the crazy looking thing at the z-cookout" its a cop magnet. So i ended up arguing with the officer about closing down every pep-boy, midas, kragen, and so on for selling illegal products. He finally let me go after about 40 minutes of arguing with him about my modifications. I use to work for a shop, and now work for a wholesaler of high performance parts, i have heard just about every horror story out there. You cant do much.
Part of the reason is that the Aftermarket community has not stood up and fought for us, the people buying their products. Most of what the police departments are doing is harrasment. In a sence "racial profiling" but in this case driver profiling based upon their vehicle modifications. What needs to be done is a class action law suit againist the various departments for issusing bogus tickets *ie the ticket concerning the intercooler on the wrx. But unfortunality that will not happen because of the lack of cooperation between the people getting the tickets and in most cases they dont know any better.
But there is one thing that you can do if you get a bogus ticket, and if you have the courage. You can go to the police department that the police officer is based out of and make a "formal complaint" againist that officer. have the information from the referee showing that it was a bogus ticket. Then you have the right to file a formal complaint for harrasment. A formal complaint ends up on the officers history folder. Enough complaints will raise some flags. there is more information but i think this essay is long enough.

Feel free to ask questions,
thank you for your time,
Kash

Default Fight your tickets every time !!!

If only 10% of the drivers who get tickets fought them in court, the whole system would collapse under the weight of numerous traffic court cases. The system of enforcement of traffic laws, although claimed by the authorities to be for safety reasons, is really all about raising revenue. In Redondo Beach where I live, the speed limit is 25 mph almost everywhere. Those moron cops in RB will give you a ticket for doing 32 mph in a 25 mph zone that should be posted at 40 mph.

If you think like I do, I recommend you do two things. If, unfortunately, you get a ticket, fight it in court (I'm talking about traffic tickets, not fix-it tickets). You have about a 40% chance that the cop won't show up in court, and then your case is dismissed. Even if you are convicted in court, you can ask for traffic school, and you will probably get it and can keep the ticket off your record.

The other thing is, join the National Motorists Assn. It is nothing like the AAA. It is an organization dedicated to driving enthusiasts, and was instrumental in getting the national 55 mph speed limit repealed some years ago. Their website is www.motorists.org -- check it out.

I think if your driving around in a car that looks like it belongs
on a Race Track your asking for the Tickets. IMO

Personally I am gonna keep my Stock look and hope for the best.

I have read about this in the 240sxforum and at evolutionforum (Evo VIII Forum). Cops are taking 4 hour courses a month to learn about aftermarket products. They can pretty much stop you for exhaust and what not. The 240 guys are getting hit for SR20DET transplant. The Evo VIII are getting hit for modified exhaust and what not. So it's only time before they come after us since the Aftermarket support is growing for the Z.

I like that idea... since they are getting some course they should be able to do a good job and know where things go.

We have Krispy Kremes here in Kentucky, the Kop's fav-o-rite donut. Perhaps I can get some of those Kali Kops to put in a Twin Turbo for me, for a dozen fresh Krispy Kremes????

Cops are Cops, but remember this, you do not have to say a thing.

If a cop is being cool with you then by all means talk with him and try and "educate" him that you are not an "evil racer" that he has been trained to identify with his (stupid) classes.

But if you get a real A-Hole then just shutup and let him do his thing. You only have to provide your registration and DL. Then SHUT UP. If he is going to write you tickets, he is going to write you tickets no matter what you do to try and "convince" him otherwise. Just be respectful with the Yes Sir, No Sir, sign the ticket and deal with it in court.
