Default My $0.02

I would limit it either to 350Zs only, or to all Z cars including G35s I don't want a bunch of ricer fwd Hondas with big wings and fart cans coming to our events. LOL

I think I was last at a meeting in 2003, but I am definetly going to be there for this one in May. Hope to see you and other forum members there.

PS: You don't have to be a member of the club to go to a meeting. Of course, if you started going to every meeting they might start lookin at ya funny.

hey hunter funny pic. But if a ricer.. "and i use to be one if you want to call it that" wants to join then there should not be a problem. Beside i doubt someone like that would join a majority of 350z's. we are here to enjoy our cars..and the people.. not to exclude

I agree...Exclusion is NOT COOL.
We get so many people that come on here that want to attend the events but don't have a 350Z (me being one of them). We would never want to say "you cant be a part of our FUN LOVING group of car enthusiasts because you dont have the same car." I think its more about the PEOPLE at these events....If a "ricer" wants to join, (which I highly doubt) then so be it. I dont think anyone should have a problem with it..Especially if all they do is give you compliments on your nice ride

i dont think we need to attend a "group-z" meet to come up with our name. thsi is a collective effort with people with this group. For those that want to join "group-z" feel free. i dont think we are creating this club to exclude you.
FYI- you can be in both.. but lets keep this a group effort

Default The nature of a Club is exclusion

Country clubs are a good example. Not just anybody can walk in there and join. Car clubs are generally for one marque, and somtime one model (Porshce Owners Club; Corvette club, etc.). It doesn't mean that we hate people who drive Hondas. I rented a new Honda Accord when my Z was in the shop, and I liked it.

I don't see how you can call it a Club if every idiot and his brother can join. You might as well say that everyone on the 405 at rush hour is hereby admitted to our Club.

But that's just me. No one ever agrees with me, so don't worry about it.

Well.....I know youve read other posts..and most people dont want to be named a CLUB ...hehe most said they were happy with "group" or "crew" or "organization"..Our last run up Latigo, we had a porsche and a corvette join us...Would you pull the line of cars over to tell them they couldnt join us..?? They are not a z, nor a nissan, nor a G35, but they still joined us and had a good time...All of us did...And what if there is a 350z owner/leaser right now, and they end up trading their Z in (like Kash who wants a ACR Viper!)...would they still not be a part of the group? This is just my opinion and my opinion is NOT the deciding factor...but we are not a country club..We are a bunch of people who love our cars. That is the common interest..The common goal is to have fun, and we can ALL do that, no matter what car we own...(or lease.)

How bout..."SoCrew". No "Z" in the name, so everyone thats cool is welcome to join just like Lysa said. And it kinda means "SoCal Crew" and sounds like "So Cool", cuz thats what we are! Hahahahahaha...Im so smart.

I don't think you guys/gals need to be concerned if the name includes "SoCal" or has a "Z" in it. The name of the group/club/(whatever) doesn't need to specify who could/should join or anything.

Hopefully, people use some common sense before deciding to join a club, ask a few questions, and see if it is for them.

---
Potential Member: "Hey. I see you have a club/group/(whatever). What do you guys typically do for fun?"

Member: "plunder and pillage"

Potential Member: "What kinda cars do most people have?"

Member: "350Z's mostly, couple of Impalas"

Potential Member: "Cool. I've got a 350Z too! Where do I sign up?"
---
Hunter made a good point about Country Clubs, except they often discriminate as written rule. You don't need to do that with a car club. People will learn what you are about, and decide if that sounds like fun for them. If they don't mind being the only Buick in the bunch, why should anyone else mind?

Expand the brainstorming. Forget about Z's and So Cal. Think of sommething else that ties you together. Or something totally off the wall.

I'll go first..... (and who knows, possibly last ) with this detour of thought.

......

Or maybe not....lol

I like shiftZ.

Has a keyboard meaning to it (internet forum relationship)
It's representitive of the Nissan marketing campaign that was launched for the 2003 lineup, of which the 350Z was the flagship. Soon, it will be forgotten by the mass public, replaced with some other marketing jargon. (Long Live Brickyards and ShiftZ!)

Yep. It's perfect.

Ok. Since we got the name chosen now, what's the next issue?

Jeff (self appointed interim leader of the newly named shiftz group/club/(whatever)
