California Speedway - Saturday 5/29/04
Lol. Well they don't enforece the 14 sec rule too stringently. If your car looks like it's under 13 or 12, they'll bug you about it, but no they won't stop the race and single you out becasue you went under 14. I didn't have any problems getting in and in that heat you don't want to wear a helmet if you don't have to.
n10zt, the next one is June 26 I believe.

PS to my previous post since I can't edit: Turn off the VDC when you get to the christmas tree. lol. (damned thing cost me 3 runs last time. You'd think I would have learned by now)

Last minute I decided to pop up with Skar718. Huge turn out, over 400 cars I think. Ran into Roland(Frenzee) and Chris Mcagle Dragging their Z's. Those guys know how to enjoy their Z's
Man it was fun! next time I go I am gonna Drag my TRACK.
Those EVO's are no joke! heavily modded and were rockets.
Seemed like every other car was a Neon SRT
We need to make an event out of it so the SoCal crew can Drag race our cars.

Update: This Saturday, ChrisMCagle and I were the only ones from the board that went and raced. Was a fun day. There was one other white Z racing but we couldn't connect so I'm not sure if he was or wasn't on the board. A couple of other Z owners showed up but didn't race. Anyhow, this was Chris's first time out there and he did pretty well.
It was my third time and I managed to break into the 13's and am pretty happy. And that was on my third and last run. First run, I left the VDC on (damn! again) - (14.58 @ 98.61). Second run I mis-shifted 1>2>3>2 ouch! - (14.35 @ 91.07). Third run did a slight burnout, had a near perfect launch, shifted around 6k - (13.89 @ 100.75). I think I could do better, but for now this is good.
I should mention that there were a ton of EVO8s and most were doing mid to high 12s. Nearly all were modded.
For those interested, ambient temps started aound 80's and dipped down to 69F by the end of the day. Elevation at California Speedway is, I believe, at or near sea level. There was a 5-10 MPH head wind.
Here are some pics and vid I took:

Wow!! That was a GRRRRRREAT Time! I've never been to a drag race, let alone participate in one. It's definitely something that I'd love to do again. Being my first time, I was pretty nervous before my first run, but by the third, I was fine. I think that I did fairly well for a beginner and I improved on each consecutive run.
I'm glad that we met up with Roland because he was really helpful on letting us know what to do and where we needed to go! We saw a couple other 350Z's there (a PP and SS), but only a PP was racing and when we tried to flag him down as he passed by, he didn't seem too sociable. This is something that we should plan on getting a large group together to do. And this time the group should actually show up
Hehehehe.
Ok, now for my times...
I got 3 runs in. The first run I really had no idea what to expect and everything happened pretty fast so I didn't get the best start but I managed to get a 15.476 at 93.96 MPH with a reaction time of 1.152. My new shift light mod worked GREAT! I had set the limit to 6500 RPM's so the light came on a little after 6000. The LED was nice and bright considering we were driving right into the sun. My second run was a little better since I knew how it worked and ended up with a 15.079 at 94.95 MPH with a reaction time of 1.106. My last race was the best. I set the Shift light to 6700 so the revs could get a little higher, but I screwed up and shifted early a couple times, and I spun the tires on the launch, but I still got the best time of the day for me. 14.948 at 95.19 MPH with a reaction time of .757.
Talk about an adrenalin rush! I can't wait to go again!
