Back in "the day", when the 350Z was new, the S2000 club used to invite you folks to dinner once in a while. We did this a lot, one big dinner had over 20 cars. It's been way too long.

So, we'll meet for dinner Wed night the first of June at 7 PM.

Instead of the usual Ski Shores, this time we'll go to The Pier on Lake Austin. This is an Austin institution, along the lines of Ski Shore but even more so. More than just a hamburger dive, or a live music place, this old joint has been doing it all since 1958.

As you may have seen on Page 1 of the Statesman recently, they just escaped getting torn down by new owners - at least for a few more months. This could be your last chance to see classic Austin as it was.

It's located on a back road just off 2244 - a bit up river and on the opposite side of Lake Austin from Ski Shores. Not a long drive at all, just a few miles off Bee Caves from 360.

There is no band that night - so just show up, eat burgers, and talk car stuff.

Oh, since our core group has diverged a bit recently, there will be a few other things there too including S2000, Miata, Elise, Evo, MINI, and what-have-you. But the core of it is all is still the same folks who used to do this all the time.

Notes It's a long twisty road to get there - not unlike our first drive out City Park many years ago. Signage is minimal: a small sign on Bee Caves. There is a 300 degree right turn to make part way in - you'll see the sign at the last second. The location is isolated, and watch out for the potholes at the entrance to the lot.

Well, the Z group lost - with zero cars as oppossed to the 8 S2000s.

 

Yes, i was a little disappointed in the Z turnout, not to mention the Evo or Elise owners.
