Thumbs up Drag race with a 2001 C5 story.

Hello Austin, just an excited story about how much I love my Z. I know racing on the streets is not safe, but it was isolated and straight with zero traffic, and I couldn't resist testing my Z. Go easy on the flames. (Parmer Lane, North of Mopac, before McNeil) My friend and I, who owns a 2001 C5, and has been trash talking me for a week, were driving back from his girlfriends late Monday night. We come to a red light, and he yells, "you know how to launch that thing?" So I give him the "let’s go" signal. I turn the VDC off, and watch for the light to change. Since this is the first time I have tried to launch the car, I am a little nervous. (Only 1500 miles on it so far) I held the Rpm’s at 2000, and went for it. I got a some wheel spin and a little bit of rear wiggle, but the Z jumped out quickly. I could hear his car make a loud squeal, and as I looked over I was about a 1/2 a car ahead through first, shifted to 2nd, and was able to stay a nose in the lead all the way through the gear!! When I shifted into 3rd, he then started pulling steadily. At the top of third about 85MPH, he was a little over a car length ahead, and in fourth at about 100MPH I hit the brakes, with him about 3 car lengths in front. After we pulled over, he said he accidentally spun it a little in first, but was very impressed with my acceleration. I was already smiling from ear to ear. I have a stock performance model, and he has an intake (not sure which brand) and a B&B Triflow catback exhaust. I witnessed him running a 13.1 @109Mph at Rivercity Raceway about a month ago. I thought his car would embarrass me, but I was very happy with the result. Can't wait to get him on a road course this summer

This was done with bald Nitto 555 R Drag radials..no slicks but not "street tires" either hehe.. i'm hoping the car is a little faster now.. I got some basic tuning done so it would be nice to get a 11.99 if anything hehe with just what i have
