I have a front plate without any holes in my bumper. Try a zee bracket, http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan..._Code=ZEE-BRCT

I had the same plate holders at zand02max. On the current texas plate, the bottom covers up the words "lone star state". I'm sure that's really important for the police to see!?

I took my plate holders off this weekend. I think I'll clean them up and put them on eBay tomorrow.

Most license plate covers will cover the "TEXAS" name at the top of the license plate, thus making it illegal. It was about 2 years ago I read about that in the newspapers, and it IS a way for Texas to collect more money and gives cops an excuse to pull just about anyone over. At that point I took off my rear plate holder and I have just the license plate screwed in. I have no front plate on.

Never having been a particular fan of license plate frames, I don't mind not having one (or two). My rear plate is just screwed in and it looks fine. The front is the factory supplied mount which allows you to just screw in the license plate against the supplied mounting bracket. No biggie. Nothing is "framed" and the speeding ticket I will eventually get will not be piggybacked with a license plate frame violation.

They got me too back when my car was only a few weeks old. I bought a frame the very same day for the receipt and brought it to court along with a picture of the plate on the car and was dismissed, ymmv. It think the zee bracket is over priced and made my own using some bolts and a generic plate frame mounted in the grill area.

On my commute to work I see Harris County Precinct 4, Texas state troopers, harris county sheriffs, Jersey Village PD and finally HPD so I try not to give them a reason, which is why I also have a V1.

i got a ticket this weekend but i can't complain. me a 350z and an STI where "racing" down I-10. got up to 135mph and backed it off to normal with the rest of the cars. the STI exited and left. 10 miles later around New Berlin a trooper spotted me and my friend in the 350 and gave us tickets for 81mph in a 70. The cop said they received a call about a red infiniti and a white nissan drag racing . he never said anythg abt the STI, we have reason to believe the STI made the call. I'd be mad too if 2 NA cars kept up with my turbo .

not trying to thread jack, just giving a story!!

I think you're right. I should be able to get the ticket dropped by showing proof I fixed the problem. Still makes me mad though. And my Z plate holders are in my bedroom closet now.

Thumbs up License Plate Blues!

I have been rolling in Lubbock, Texas for 2 1/2 years now without a front plate and the satin NISMO plate holder on the back! No tickets or hassle to speak of...knock on wood!

I was pulled over last Friday by a Stafford biker cop. He was very polite. The officer addressed me as "Sir" and ask if I had an emergency he could assist. He sounded sincere and not trying to be sarcastic. I received a ticket for doing 67 mph on a 45 mph zone. When I inquired about defensive driving, he changed the ticket to 64 mph to ensure that I would be qualified. The cop gave me a warning for not changing my home address on my DL and for an obscured license plate, the Southwest Infinit license frame covered the lower text on the Texas plate. I also didn't get a ticket for the limo tint and no front license plate.

" and for an obscured license plate, the Southwest Infinit license frame covered the lower text on the Texas plate."

It's probably just me (it usually is!), but why do folks want to advertise their dealer? When I bought my Z I told the sales guy to just put the plates on, no frames. He smiled and said something like 'so you don't want to advertise us on your car?'. I smiled back. If I put frames on my plates, I wouldn't see the special message at the bottom which says "State of the Arts". I paid extra for that because I think it's kewl. No frames, thanx. And to each, his own(ed).

Plus, none of those damn dealer nameplates on the upper trunk area.

I've been without a front plate for almost a year with no problems... but I've got a G35 sedan, so it doesn't draw much attention to begin with... which is how I like it.

BTW - seems like they were trying to pass a law to abollish the front plate for TX.
