Question No Trucks (passing lane)

In Houston there on the left-most passing lane on some freeways like 290 there in paint every so often it says in great big letters "NO TRUCKS." I've noticed that the 18 wheelers actually do obey this rule and stay off most of the time but why do I keep seeing slow *** drivers with F350's tandem wheel trucks and similar vehicles driving in this lane designated for all vehicles except "TRUCKS." Does hillbilly blood not allow them to accept this or is the writing on the pavement just not clear? Should it say something like "NO BIG RIGS" instead of no trucks? What is the law anyways? Are suv's trucks and included in the ban or are they perfectly ok?

In my observation big vehicles tend to do slow sunday driving in this lane which really pisses me off. Of course half the time it's also a cheapy little crap car with a dude/chick who really needs a bath and a haircut whose just chatting away on his cellphone driving close to the minimum speed limit as well. Anyways, aside from my rant, I did have a question in there somewhere.

The truck rule applies to 18 wheelers, and not all big truck drivers are hillbillys

Of course you are right about not all truck drivers being hillbillies. That statement was made on condition that their license plates read "truck" or "farm truck" or has "truck" and yet they still choose to block traffic in the passing lane which specifically states "no trucks". [BASIC: if then, goto HILLBILLY] lol

So if it is only for multi axle vehicles like 18wheelers, it should just read "NO multiaxle" But yeah, it's unfortunate that lawmakers or city planners wouldn't exactly think that one through as to make it clear.

I am kinda resurecting this post, but to add input I have seen these signs in the Austin area, Dallas, and in some other cities outside of Texas. It is generally accepted that when a highway sign reads "No trucks" it is talking about 18 wheelers, etc... Not SUVs, Titans, F350s...

As far as most drivers obeying the rule, I believe the fine is pretty large if caught, and there is always the possibility of losing your job if you get a ticket. It is in the drivers best interests not to drive in those lanes.

It only applies to commerical tractor-trailers (18 wheelers). They can use the lane to pass and that it is. Once they are outside the city limits, they can use whatever lane they want.
