How about the track? You're going to get hurt or hurt somebody if things do go wrong on the streets. Think of safety first.

the quarter mile is hardly "top speed"

and at the track, you wont hit top speed in a street car (maybe possible on a large oval nascar track with banked corners...)

but if you want the real deal, on the streets, legally, look into open road racing. they have an event in big bend twice a year. look it up, www.bborr.com

here is the jist of it: 59 miles of public highway is closed off (in both directions) for this race. you pick a speed bracket, and estimate your finishing time to do all 118 miles. its like a time trials event, but you can choose to do a 145 mph average if you want (and averaging 145 mph requires well over 160 mph top speed). just think, cruising at your rev limiter for 20 minutes... garanteed it will be the fastest 120 miles you will ever drive continuously.

well, by definition the 1/4 mile is, well, about 1/4 of a mile long. how long is houston raceway? its got to be a good couple miles long to pin a Z at the governor

Most all tracks have track days. Will run you about $150 plus the cost of tires. Most of the road courses don't have a long enough straights to pin a car or a bike.

EDIT: can't remember if TMS is a 1/4 track or road course. I get confused between that and Motorsport Ranch (MSR).

Its a NASCAR track. I'd imagine I could get my car up to 155 in the oval.

This is a pretty stupid thread..

I'll still say something though 121 where the toll booths are about to be built is probably one of the safer places to speed. That and Bush but those damn toll things get annoying.

As long as your attempting to do it safely and away from other people there is nothing wrong with going on the streets. There isn't always a track close to everyone.

and always use your blinker

how about we all just run up to police stations and tell them where we like to speed and ask if they will stay away from there so that we can drive without fear of getting a ticket!...

Just fair warning, you are about to be verbally ripped apart for that post.

Please sell your Z now and buy a Metro, before you kill someone. There is NO way to safely max out your car on the streets. Way too much can happen at 155+mph. Seriously. Think about what you just said. You're telling me that you can accurately predict everything that could happen regarding you, your car, other people, other peoples' cars, road debris, wildlife, etc? Right.

On a side note, watch yourselves with threads like this one. You don't want to name highways, etc. that are great 'speeding roads' because there is always the possibility that a local cop could see this.

So if you want to max out your z do it when your allone, but if you must know i mad it to 155, and i had a little to go, so if your looking for a top speed i would say not much more than that,
