A couple of my boys are gonna be coming down from Cali for HIN. And I want to show them a good time in Dallas but 1 problem I dont know crap about where to go. I moved to SA from Cali a couple years ago and have never been to Dallas. We will be in Dallas on the 7th till the 11th. ANYTHING!!!

 

Depends what you are looking for. Everything in Dallas is kind of scattered but there are 3 main spots to check out: Uptown area near Lemmon Ave., Lower Greenville off of Greenville Ave, or downtown in the West End Deep Ellum area. If you are more specific on what you are looking for I might be able to help you more.

 

Looking for some some upscale bars and clubs!! Nothing ghetto!! We will be staying at the marriott closest to were HIN will be held at. Is there anything around there?

 

Uptown is where you want to go then. Very modern and trendy. You would have to take Central 75 and exit around Lemmon Ave. HIN is at the Dallas Convention Center which is off of I35. Not much around that area unless you want to go to the strip clubs. I know HIN always have an offiicial after party. I don't know if that's something you'll be interested. If you are looking for an older crowd that is more refined then I wouldn't go.

 

Perhaps, somebody should try to set up a Z meet for the 9th (before HIN like last year and caravan together to HIN). We have a dyno day, but that's not really a meet and we haven't had an actual meet in a while.

 

We had a mimi meet at Don Davis last month. It actually turned out pretty fun. I think about 15 guys showed up. As for the meet before HIN, I'll go but I'll break off when you guys head out to the show.

 

Yeah, I've been to all the meets until this year. I've been MIA.. I guess since nobody (except Travis and Brian and Vic) comes to my track days, I don't feel the need to go to their car "shows" and meets.

I'm not going to HIN, neither.. maybe.

 

All those places are they bars or clubs?

 

What about the " Ghost Bar " ? I hear it a cool place to hang. Pretty upscale and lots of chicks too !

 

Yes Ghost Bar is pretty cool and it's near the AAC. I like Uptown area better because there's more selection in a concentrated area. Look at the citysearch list. Most of the popular places are listed here:

Off the list here are some of my suggestions:

Obar and Ghostbar - both very nice and upscale. You get to see how pretentious Dallas really is

SunSet Louge - Very trendy but a bit more relaxed compared to ^

Loon - Very laid back, not very upscale but man do they make some strong drinks. I swear everything there is at least a double.

Gingerman - Very chill place but more of a local hangout type.

Zubar - Use to be okay. Awesome when there's a crowd but sucks when it's slow. The place is very small. I think they are either gone or changed names.

Velvet Hookah - Pretty cool to check out once if you are into that sort of thing.

 

When is the best day to go to some of those places?

 

The more trendy places are generally Friday Saturday nights. Places like the Loon and Gingerman I can go Thursday-Sunday even. If you are going to certain clubs I would look at their website and see what type of music they play each night because it may dictate the ethnicity of the crowd.

Thursday night - M Street off lower Greenville...
Friday night - doing a preparty @ Karma in Addison...
Saturday night - doing an afterparty @ Purgatory in downtown...

The thing is these places are cool but considered Asian hangouts during regular weeks. I guess HIN will be no different. I'm Asian and I tend to avoid these places. Asians don't know how to behave properly in a large event without starting fights or pulling out a gun. The scene gets old.

 

I am coming down for deigo so I am used to asian's! That is nothing new as far as the guns I guess that is a dirty south thing!!!!!! LOL!!!

i always try to attend the meets, going to be alot less frequent unless it's something of high importance or really late night... like 11-5am or something...

i have like no schedule now be even when i did i still managed to pull my a$$ out there... even racing with you a couple times....

either way that's all off topic... schedule a meet before HIN, a nice cruise around the Dallas area would be fun right before HIN... then after you guys get tired of walking around checking out the go-go danc...... eh hem ...the cars... you can run to an up scale clup or something...

Yeah, nobody comes to the drag strip. They're all pussies and they know they'll get raped by me, so I guess they don't even bother. BTW, I'm not a big balla. I just sometimes give my car a different kind of lovin', by beating it up at the track.

 

No it's not a dirty south thing, it's a pu$$y a$$ I can start a fight by acting all hard and chit but I can't take an a$$ whooping so instead I need either a gun or ten of my friends to back me up. Specially the Vietnamese punks (Yes there's a Vietnamese gang problem here). I swear to God those little gansta wanna be fcuckers are so quick to pull a gun out.
