more job opportunities in the bigger cities like Houston and Dallas, but Austin is more laid back and no where near as much crime.
Austin is hot in the summer and not so cold in the winter...you may have half a month where temps get close to freezing. Austin reminds me alot of Daygo....so that should kinda give you idea of what it looks like. Hilly and lots of trees and good views. Quite a few lakes in austin and surrounding areas.
I live in Houston and have a house in the burbs....crime here sucks. Just this week, we had 4 home robberies/invasions. I live in a good neighborhood that is still being built. Theives seem to target new neighborhoods. One neighbor told me when they broke in, they tied him up. Not cool. Anyhow, if you choose to stay in Houston....make sure you get an alarm and a dog.

Please PM me your complaints if you dont want them aired. I would really like an insiders view. Dont worry, I dont get bothered by racism!

The excess amount of jobs sounds job...Accountants dont tend to leave their jobs and finding a position may be more difficult than expected.

come to Clear Lake, Houston. its next to the water and the schools are pretty good. not many crimes, as far as i know, but we do have fair share of crazies like the diaper nasa lady, the lady who drowned her children, the lady who ran over her husband multiple times etc.
