Thumbs up Moving To San Antonio

Whooo-who!!! Finally moving back to Texas this summer!!! I truly can't wait to get back to the greatest state in the Union! Wife & I are coming down in March to look for a home. Have a builder and home already set just need to find a neighborhood to build. Don't have a set moving date just yet. But shooting for around July.

Anyhow, was wondering if there was a Texas Z specific forum? I currently work in Kuwait, live in Colorado and visit the Mile High forum for local meets, cruises, track events & such. Looking to find out what shop to visit and what to avoid. Does San Antonio have a large Z scene. Seems like it would. Please feel free to leave any info you like. I'll soak it all in.

Well looking forward to getting year round sunshine without snow!

Congrats!! I think we have a nice Z/G scene out here. I don't know of any Z specific forums, but we do have our Thursday meets at a shop called Neo-Spec. Let us know when you move down to SA.

Welcome to Texas & SA! Here's the thread to our meet & track event from a couple of weeks ago:

https://my350z.com/forum/meet-ups-events-texas/324966-san-antonio-austin-meet-in-san-marcos.html

Where are you going to be working when you move to SA? That may help us provide you some info as far as locations to build your house.

Well we plan to leave in near Randolph, 35 & 1604 Loop areas. I plan to go to UTI in Houston but home will be San Antonio. No I won't commute. LOL My parents live in Spring (North Houston) so I'll stay with them during the school week and be home (San Antonio) on the weekends. Wife is looking for a GS position with any of the bases. But for obvious reason she want to work at Randolph or Sam Houston.

Welcome back...
As far as shops go I really don't think there is one specific shop that you must go too. (I have yet to vist any shop here in town for any reason).

The Z scene is fair. There are a couple z groups around town, however we can never seem to all get together. For the most part each group just sticks to there own..

TX FTW. Being from Austin, it seems like the SA crew has a good amount of people. The Austin scene sucks

edit: cant wait to see your ride finished up, been following it for a while. I want a ride when its done and maybe we could do a n20 Z vs TT Z run for some fun

I live in Cibolo, which is close to the location where you are planning to build. Cibolo is a good area, with an excellent school district. Look also in the Schertz, Selma & Universal City areas -- they're also good areas.

I'm at Randolph AFB as a civilian and at Fort Sam Houston with my TXARNG assignment (U.S. Army South). Lots of job opportunities at both bases, especially with FSH gaining the DoD medical training mission.

I call 1st dibs on riding in your FI Z when you get to town . . .

Thanks for the info. Please keep it coming. Anything you think of will be great.

z-u-later: That is where we are looking at. As mentioned we'll be down in March to see what area we like the most. I was stationed in Del Rio from 02-04 so we visited SA a lot. Grew up in Houston though in my youngin days. So Texas is HOME! As far as a ride in the 2X530BB... Sure! LOL

Bump!

I was accepted to UTI in Houston. So any info about the Z scene in H-Town would be great too.

If you wind up in Houston check out the Z Club of Houston www.zclubofhouston.com

And if you make way to San Antonio check out Z Sport (Z Car Club of San Antonio). www.zsport.org
Great Z club and they put on the best annual Z Car Show in Texas.

Welcome to SA! I live in Hanover Cove, which is just across 1604 from Randolph AFB. It's a nice neighborhood that is still growing. I retired about a year ago and moved from Hurlburt Field, Fl. to SA for the potential GS oportunities here. So far I'm still waiting , but something will come around eventually. I've been to a few Show and Shines here in SA and there is a group right here in Converse that has some bad a$$ Zs and Gs in it. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2508603

Thanks for the info. My wife is looking to GS. I'm, however, done working for the military/Gov't. We're headed down this March to look at having a home built in Live Oak, Schertz, or Cibolo.

BTW: Link to my Z are in my sig.

welcome back to texas, sounds like you will have a nice build. I live on the other side of i-35 (garden ridge) but all that area would be a good place to build, it is growing like crazy and traffic is getting worse and worse =(. i think there is only 2 clubs in SA, 210VQ and ZSPORT. I'm a member of the ZSPORT and it sounds like you have checked out our website. can't wait to see your ride around.
