Default Thinking about relocating to Plano

I'll keep this short: I have been in S. Florida since I was 6 years old. I recently got married in March and my wife is from Killeen, Texas. I've been doing some research and I see that the houses/cost of living are significantly cheaper in TX. I've also noticed that Plano is a nice city. I found a position in my line of work that pays more in Plano too. Cheaper house + Bigger Salary= WIN!...are my assumptions correct? What do you guys know about Plano?

plano is nice and is basically high-middle class to upper class...a lot of the people here are rich and snobby though, and like the post above me said it's not too far a drive to get places, i.e. shops at legacy, downtown, addison circle. it is prob one of the cleanest and best places to live in the whole country, although it may get boring at times. but i would say do it!

Plano is where all the Heroine & Cheeze is at ! j/k

All I know is that it is one of the nicer communities around the DFW area.

^that is funny. there is a really nice complex in grand prairie called Grand Peninsula, very nice homes. I was thinking about living there and commuting to Plano to work....I just wanted to know what the distance was. But Plano has really nice homes as well, I'm so overwhelmed...lol.

To me personally I wouldnt do that. That commute is going to be rough.

There are PLENTY of places closer to Plano. GP is far...

The only kicker is how long you plan to work in Plano. If that is something short-term and there is something in closer to GP, that makes sense then. But if you are staying in Plano...I would highly suggest living closer to Plano.

Just my 2 cents...

I used to do a long commute everyday (~45min - 1 hr)...and that just breaks you down. HAHA...

Yeah I heard that Plano was the most affluent city in the nation. Grew up in Plano and lived in Plano for 20 years. Moved to a suburb just east of Plano, but I still work in Plano. It's a good city, and I enjoyed my life here.

Wow, I knew Plano used to be the most affluent city back in 2005/06 but not currently....good find! Thanks for all the feedback/help guys, I think me and the wife are going to go for it. I still have a long process ahead of me (I have to get the job).....hopefully everything works out. Timsam, I will probably buy closer, there are so many new houses to choose from, I'm overwhelmed.
