Default Anyone have clutch sticking issue resolved at an DFW area dealership?

My '06 clutch pedal does not return all the way when it is hot out , stop and go traffic , or driven for a while. It has 26k miles and has not been beat on. I have read on this forum that others with this issue found it to be a bad slave cylinder. I took the car to Bankston Nissan in Lewisville, and they told me it was the clutch. They could not explain why it did not happen all the time and why the clutch does not slip. They wanted to inspect the clutch and if they found wear charge me 1100 bucks. Has anyone had any luck with this trouble in the DFW area? or at the least know of a good dealership / service adviser in this area?

I take mine to Thornhill.... my car was having that problem for a little while... they need to bleed it out.... Talk to Darlene in the service department there... she is really cool... they have never said anything about my modded Z. Tell her Eric in the Silver Z sent you .... she will hook you up....

I had the exact same problem on my 06 Grand Touring. All i did to fix the problem was buy a stainless steel clutch line and Motul Fluid from www.mynismo.com. I replaced the clutch line with the new nismo one, and changed the clutch fluid out and the problem has not come back since.

Whats happenening is called Vapor lock. Your clutch/brake fluid is boiling under high temps and causing vapor lock thus not allowing the hydraulic pressure to remain.

The motul race brake fluid has a lot higher boiling temp, and the stainless steel braided and heat wrapped clutch line will help keep the fluid cooler as well.

I called Thornhill and spoke with Darlene. She said it may need to be bled, but wanted to charge me to do it. Shouldn't this be warranty work? I understand wearing out a clutch and that being the owners responsibility, but how do you "wear out" your hydraulic system? I am going to look into the Motul fluid. Can this be picked up at any stores or order only?

I called Texas Nissan of Grapevine and the service adviser sounded like he knew what he was talking about. I took it in today and they said it was a sticking clutch master cylinder They fixed it under warranty. I pick it up in the morning so I will see how it does. Thanks for all the help

Dude,

Its probably going to happen again. Of course it was a sticking Master Cylinder, thats b/c of Vapor lock, Once the new fluid, (since they had to replace the fluid when they changed the master) gets to be about a year old and constant heating up and cooling down from normal wear and tear. the fluid will break down again, and its boiling point will lower and lower until its gets back to the same point.

Its going to seem to be fixed for now, which it is, but it will happen again, unless you take measures to reduce the amount the brake fluid is heated.

The motul Fluid can probably be bought at a local race shop, but just as easy to buy it online, and its probably cheaper. i bought mine from www.mynismo.com

let me know how it works out for you.
