Here's one from a thread on my FX forum. Played a joke on a guy about underdrive pulley's and his engine blowing.

Hey Jake,

What are the speaker sizes for the Z in the rears & doors ?

I'm thinking about getting something just a bit better without spending a bunch of cash. Just want to do a swap out for speakers without running new wires.

6 1/2 all around. Don't bother changing the rear speaker nor using it.

But if you swap speakers at least amplify them.

+1, actually swapping speakers without either amplifying them or at the very least changing out to a good headunit is pretty much worthless imho. the stock speakers are actually decent if you get a good headunit. i would do that over getting new speakers.

Does the Z have a separate amp somewhere ?...or is it all from the stock head unit ?

Also you talking about the rear Sub speaker or the rears in back behind the seats ?

Hmmm, I've seen the door speakers & they are paper cones which surprised me. at least for the upgraded Bose system in the Touring model. I would think they would be at least some poly in there.

Any case I just want to improve sound without spending too much....I was thinking of getting a new head unit & GPS ....But that is some coin.

Any suggestions ???

I replaced two back speakers when i replaced headunit. I have a base, so no bose here. But it sounds pretty much better and surprised that two stock speakers work well with aftermarket headunit.

Bose are pretty good quality system imo, even stock. If you are going to replace just a speakers, i would say go something better quality speakers than bose. You can try just replace a speakers and then if sounds not that good, replace headunit/GPS

Sorry i don't know much about speakers lol

I am upset... I had Jotech put in my new clutch a while back when I burned out my old one in ennis... and AGAIN they didnt torque my tranny all the way down, and now because of the turbo, I cant torque it down myself... So I have to get a day where I can go back to Garland and get them to do it...

Jacob: Swapping out wheel studs? It was pretty easy and very fast when I did it. Hardest part for me was taking off the rotor that seemed to be rusted/seized onto my hub.

Chris: If you have stock bose there is a seperate amplifier but it only works for the bose stuff. If you wanted to upgrade the head-unit to a double-din for navi/gps and all that's be a nice idea instead of buying a portable unit? But if you wanted to upgrade speakers you would need to upgrade head-unit + add an amplifier as well.

BTW there are some aftermarket speakers that are made of paper cone as well. It's very popular and there are actually good paper cone speakers,

The rear speaker (not sub) is the ones I speak up. They are useless and not worth buying speakers for. I have mines disabled and only have my aftermarket ones up front doing all the work.

What's this feeler method you speak of? You feel on it and the studs come popping off?
