Walking around in ghetto-ville at night and having a gun?... hmm reciepe for disaster. But i understand what youre talking about, i have a friend who lived in the ghetto and he would always have his gun while taking out his trash at night lol, i told instead of doing that at night, take it out in the morning!
I feel bad for the other guy but he should of had a CHL, plain and simple.

Should have... but when it comes down to something like this, who cares about a CHL at that point. They threw out all charges of not having a CHL and crap anyways, so that wasn't even a factor.
There were no other charges than murder. No unlawful carry of a weapon without a license, nothing. The entire prosecution rested on this ******** story because in the investigator's eyes, there is no such thing as helping out a fellow human being in need of help from an enraged druggie and well, they needed a motive to prosecute. And like Runt said, I'm sure they threatened her with being charged as well.

Blue I'm kinda with you on this. I mean he could argue it was for protection but if you need it bad enough and you feel that threatened that you need to carry when you walk your dog then you might as well get a chl. I think what's happenening to him is wrong but at the same time he was carrying illegally. They are taking this way too far with premeditated murder though. I'd rather get charged with illegal posession of a firearm than murder. I hope everything works out for the best for him. Unfortunately none of us know the actual story of what happened for an absolute fact. I'm not saying he's lying I'm just saying it is impossible for anyone but him, the chick and the dead guy to know exactly what happened because they were there, not any of us.
I agree with you guys, he SHOULD have had a CHL if he was carrying a firearm. I've owned pistols before and carried them in my home and in my car legally, but never anywhere I couldn't without a CHL.
verdict makes a good point though, they dropped any charge/concern of the illegal carry and stuck him with premeditated murder. BS! Makes you think even if he had a CHL, they would have just said it should be revoked because he used the firearm irresponsibly. I don't understand what's happening behind the scenes here, but it just all seems wrong.
I've been meaning to since I turned 21 lol. Bought a pistol and went to the range every week for several months until I could pass the 3-distance shooting test on my own.
But then the slide on my pistol cracked, got a replacement, that one cracked, magazine release broke, etc. Got fed up and just sold it and bought a 12ga shotgun. So I am without a pistol now. Trying to save for something like a Glock 26 and then I'd like to get licensed.

If you don't mind getting an out of state license that is still applicable in Texas, check out www.familygunfun.com
Cheaper and faster with no range test. Some people don't like the idea of not having a Texas license, which I understand. Doesn't bother me personally though.

Yay guns! Were in my area of expertise now lol. Potential, I'm actually selling my glock 26. I'm trying to get $450 for it. Comes with case, all original paperwork if you want it, three mags all with 2 round mag extensions and two inside the pants concealed carry holsters. I'd be happy to send you pics if you'd like. I bought the gun new in like April and I've only put 100 rounds through it. I just need the money more than I need another handgun right now and I can't sell my glock 17 since I use it at work. Pm me if your interested.

DFW gun range has decent prices. Teute at 35 and mockingbird. It's $140 for the class and then $140 for the state licensing fee. Your paperwork is good for 1 year after completion of the course. That's where I took mine but I got a hook up cuz I used to work there lol

They should have done that BEFORE the trial.

Edit - Update:
I was just informed that Doug's case will be picked up for "The Innocence Project" for a Law School. My friends sister in-law will be taking it on along with others at her school. This will help out our Free Doug cause greatly.
