Chris,

Maybe the legal limit is 20%. My Z failed last week cause I had 15% on. I paid for the inspection, so in order to pass I went home and stripped the door windows, went back and had it passed. I had gotten a ticket for my inspection being out that day so I had to get the inspection done and clear the ticket.

Ok guys... I have a need for some 18" tires for my wife's Altima. I'm buying some Maxima wheels and have decided to go the used tire route to save some money. I know Jason has some good places he goes so I'm going to get with him, but if anyone else has the hookup on good used tires let me know. Or hell, a hookup on new tires would be even better. Not looking for high performance tires, so it should be relatively easy to find them I hope.

Thanks Chris. I saw those the other day, but looking for something else. I need 235/45/18 and if I'm buying used tires I'm not getting Nitto 555s for $100 each. Thanks for posting though.

Just be careful dude..
Gotta drive the z to work (12 miles) then it's an underpowered fwd dodge caliber the rest of the night. Not such a bad thing in this weather lol. We've had so many call offs tonight that I'm nit doing patrol, I'm just gonna be sitting on sites all night.

Correct, The legal limit in Texas is 20%, however just because you buy 20% doesn't mean that it will meter that way. I got 20% on my Z from a well known shop and it metered anywhere from 9% to 11%, I had to pay a place to get the inspection.

I think the limit is 25% but many places (especially dealerships) set 35% as their "limit." That's what I remember back when I had to deal with tint, anyway.

Last year, I had 20% that actually rated at 15%. The window itself will block a certain percentage. And I guess they changed the limit to 25% in Texas according to what I got in my packet o' failure:

Thanks Adam, the proof is there. 25% it is.

So I do need to bypass the inspection **** to get it done.

That makes sense, I got my inspection a few months before that.

I had mine done by moon shadow and they told me limo/15% on rear only (RT&LT) side mirrors required, 20% on rear sides and 35% driver/passenger is legal. They would do 20% on dr/pass but I would have to sign waiver to release them from liability. That's because the meter can over estimate the tint %, so I stayed legal .

Wooo Hooo ! I get to stay home tomorrow....schools are closed again for LISD, so it's my turn to stay home with my daughter.

What should I do all day ???? Maybe breakfast at IHOP ( around 10-11 ), then a nap...then surf the net....lunch maybe some Pho....another nap....then a beer before the wifey gets home.
