I just got a call from the mother about how her friend's daughter's new (newish?--it's still under warranty) altima has a CEL and the dealerships tell her that it's not engine related and ask her to pay so that they check and figure out what it is.
Can anyone recommend a good dealership and/or nice service rep near Odessa/Midland that could help the daughter?

If she's throwing a CEL but doesn't know what it means, then go to a local Auto Zone or somewhere similar and they can pull the code for you.
From there, you can probably check the DTC index to find out how to troubleshoot.

Three car illiterate korean women... I told her to go to autozone because they have an obdII reader and she said she didn't know what that was and that they don't have those there...
Maybe you should explain this to them in Kor... Never mind.
Tell her to go to Auto Zone, NAPA, O'Reily's, etc and ask if they can read "engine codes" and if not, ask them who can for free. Dealership should be the last option.
