Got the same type of email when trying to sell a bed on Craig's List. Sends you cashier's check for shipping, then pays rest when they pick up, etc. Stay away. A good clue to this is the fact that the name on the email doesn't match the email address (Mr. Green Wxxxx vs. nicolas.richardxxxxxx@gmail.com). Good luck to you finding a honest buyer though.

Don't feel stupid. I did the exact same thing. I got that similar email about 2 hours after my original post asking if it was still available and the cost, etc., all of which was on my ad. I thought it was too good to be true, so I googled craig's list scams and got a ton of hits on it. Just about everything I read was almost word for word exactly what the person sent me. I've never sold a vehicle person to person, so I can't tell you exactly how to verify a legit buyer with a legit cashier's check or not, etc., but anyone who wants to buy a used car for the exact price you ask without seeing it needs to be avoided. I don't know of anyone who wouldn't try to negotiate the price down and who wouldn't want to see it in person and drive it. Good luck.

Here was mine a couple of months ago. His email below, then my response below that.

Subject: Re: children's dollhouse bed - $1000 (Frisco)

Hey,
Thanks for the prompt response to my inquiry. I want to buy it, I would
love to come and check it but i am on an official duty. Pls do with draw
the advert from Web.I should believe it is in perfect condition as stated
on the web. I will be making the payment via a Certified Check which my
secretary will send across to you. I'll be picking the item from you, the
Freight and handling fee will be added to the money for the Item. My Mover
will be coming to Pick it from you once the Certified Check has been
cashed. Then you'll get the payment across to shipping vendor.Pls I will
need both your name and physical address along with you phone number to
issue out the payment.
Thanks

My reply:

I can only accept cash for this item at this time. If you are truly interested in purchasing this bed, and you are unable to bring the money to me yourself, then you can arrange for someone representing you to bring cash to purchase it. I apologize for having to handle the sale this way, but this is the only way to protect myself. I will keep the ad posted and will tell other interested parties that the sale is pending until you decide that you cannot purchase the bed under my conditions. Thanks for your interest.

I never heard back from the guy.

Well, that was my first attempt at selling over the internet. So I didn't want to unleash an attack on anyone. Now, no holding back.

"let this transaction to be base on trust ok"
That threw up a red flag for me. Asking to trust a stranger, AND questionable english. Plus, what is with that email address? WTF is a hoonie, haha?

Its all good Chef - he didnt know.. And being in texas theres A BUNCH more peops that cant speak english - just think of it being privileged to know 2 languages .. You get the best of both worlds.

Thats all off topic.. Seriously - if he(the scammer) bugs you again, just tell him the car was sold to someone local and be done...no need to drag it on, know what I mean?
