Ok gonna be driving up to Houston this weekend with the wifey for some shopping and RR. Will be staying in the downtown area. It has been a very long time since I was last in Houston and just wanted to get some info from you guys on some possible place for dinner and some drinks afterwords? Looking to stay in the downtown area. But if there are some "must go to" places I might go. Thanks for any info..
Oh ya I will be out there in my car so if you see me please stop and say hi..

I'd say if you want something nice, Mark's on Westheimer and near the Montrose area is a very very nice place. It's new American. the only bad thing about it.....it's pricey. Probably around $40/person.
Closer to Downtown and a cheaper alternative would be Feast, also on Westheimer, past Montrose. It serves European cuisine I think. If you go, definitely try their Pork Belly. You can probably get out of there completely full for around $25/person.
I'd say Tasting Room is a nice place for a glass/bottle of wine. I think they have 2 locations, one near Kirby and the other in Uptown Park, near Post Oak/Galleria area.

Hey I was in Houston early last year and went to a nice cigar bar down on Kirby. Really nice part of town. Lambos and Ferraris all around. Anyone know what that cigar bar might be?
Benjy's on Washington is a good place for dinner and drinks and there are plenty of upscale places to go to up and down that street afterwards.

hotels downtown that u might look into,
hotel icon
alden hotel
hilton america's
magnolia hotel
hotel zaza
the rates are in the low $100's this weekend so you shouldnt have a problem. hotel zaza is just outside downtown and walking distance to herman park, if you like to walk or run.
