Default I hate 350z window motors

Well my drivers side window motor started acting up about a month ago. So I got one ordered from Orieley and put it in this last weekend. Thanks to a great tech at the Nissan dealer that replaced my last window motor I was unable to get the screws out that held the motor to the aluminum back plate because they were striped.

So an easy project was took way longer then it should have. Here we are 3 days later, and bam the new motor is acting up and my window is stuck down. I think Orieley gave me a bunk motor. so now I have to call them and get a new one.

Here is what i don't understand. A company makes a car for 5-6 years and it can't figure out something as simple as a power window.

This **** kills me. Off to get a new motor.

Rant off

Eh - it happens.. Sux that urs is acting up already. I got mine online (called CARDONA, or CARDONE) .. It hasnt failed me yet. But I expect them to go out every yr and half. Not in 3 days. BUT since its OREILLY - dont they have lifetime warranty?

At least you get it for free...

There is a lifetime warranty. That is the only reason I got it there instead of getting it online. Since the last one only lasted a little over a year, Im not going to waist the money again.

Mine was dying when i got my car 2 years ago. I took the motor out and cleaned all the gunk inside of it and it has been working fine since.

well when I pulled the motor out that the parts store had given me the first time and compared it to the new new one, the first unit did not have a remain stamp on it, so I must have been given someone elses busted unit, and it wasnt returned to the manufacture. I guess it was an oversite on there part but a major pain in the butt for me. Ohh well, its done now.

i feel your pain too, sometimes mine works, sometimes it doesnt feel like it... taking a break i suppose...

good news for me is, its my passenger side, so i have a deal for ya... if your car is under warranty, i'll pay your warranty deductible if you give me your working passenger side and we swap... lol... then you can go to the dealer and get 2 new motors... lol

j/k btw...

my driver side one went out 2 days after I bought my Z, thankfully the dealership replaced it for free since my warranty was out when I bought. I didn't have to raise hell or anything

My car is out of warranty now, and a motor BY ITSELF is 250...

get this... INSTALLED price is 510-520 at Don Davis...

MORE THAN THE PRICE OF THE MOTHER LOVING MOTOR!!!

i asked about that... why in the world is the price to install this motor more than the price of the motor itself...

their response:

because they have to disassemble the entire mechanism to get the new motor installed...
I replied:
well i guess since i can effectively take this door apart BLINDFOLDED and change the motor myself, it wouldn't hurt me to do it again to put the new motor in myself now would it... better than paying the price for 2 new motors for one...

Imagine that... i have officially lost all confidence in dealerships no matter the manufacturer... they are just ridiculous.

if you car's outta warranty
buy your parts
install them yourself
save a bundle
learn more about your car
if you cant install it
get a friend who can

Lol you just found out stealership prices? I don't even get quotes from them knowing it's high. Nothing new. Good thing in the dfw area there are lots of good people who are willing to help.

at least they're easy to replace. Its a 15 minute job..tops. I don't understand how they get away with charging so much for labor. I've had to do my drivers side 4 times in the last three years and thanks to a lifetime warranty from advanced it doesn't cost a cent.

I just know its something I will do every year...now if only I could get my doors to stop leaking.

Nope i knew the same thing for some time now... but just like to reiterate the point to some of the newer members... who, may have not had the pleasure of being ripped off by the dealerships yet...

this is why i found a way to replace the brushes. 4$ brushes and some work verses another 130$ remanufactured motor.

You know you're going to have to expand on that a little more, right?

i made an entire thread with pictures documenting my rebuild. It wasn't fun by any means and was quite tricky getting the brushes out without breaking the cheap plastic. I modified some other electrical motor brushes and then soldered them into place and then had to re-route wires and resolder.

Took me a few hours but i figured i didn't have anything to lose.
