I need my oil changed. I've checked the Houston Shops thread, but I'm looking for something other than JTran and Awesome Z. I honestly don't understand how a shop does not carry oil and expects the customer to bring it in. One of the shops was charging $130+ for an oil change...

First JTran & AwesomeZ aren't Jiffy Lubes. LOL They are performance or heavy line maintenance shops. So to keep overhead on motor oil isn't needed. And going at the price of Mobil1 oil and filter... Plus to make their profit and pay their tech to complete an oil change I can see it becoming a $130+ job. Have to remember that shops & techs spend a lot of money to have tools & lifts to complete jobs. If you want a basic oil change go to your local Nissan dealer or Jiffy lube. Personally I would NEVER take my performance car to any quick service shop.

I'm not sure where you got the impression that I wanted a Jiffy Lube, but $130 for an oil change makes absolutely no sense. I've only used Z shops (Precision Z, Specialty Z, R&D, GTM) in the past and have NEVER been charged anything over $100 and that's with them using Amsoil, Royal Purple, or Motul or whatever I had left over after track day. It's an oil change for christ's sake. For an additional $70, I can get all my fluids flushed @ R&D in CA, but... we're not there are we. lol I guess I'll have to make time and do it myself.

I dont mean to add on to this but Jtran is kinda expensive...I brought the TEIN springs to them last year trying to get installed. But after getting the price quote of almost 300 bucks (287 I recall), I brought them home.
