Default need some advice on keeping car or not (more of a rant, though)

So i'm pretty financially savvy, but i need your help guys.

I get a car allowance from work, enough to pretty much pay my $450 car note. well, my car is an 04, and in order to be in compliance to receieve this car allowance, my car has to be no older than 4 years old. so I need atleast an 06.

Well, for 2 years I got away with it, but I just recieved an email saying that I will lose my car allowance unless I put in an 06 car or above. (And i dont know anyone with a newer car than that that I can get on insurance with, that's how they verify it)

So my choices: take the 450$ hit, and keep the car. this does NOT make any financial sense to me. So now my thought is to sell the car, and pick up an 08+ car.

choices of car will be another topic, but what i'm dealing with now is that I owe way more than the car is worth (cause of the mileage)

91k on the odometer, supercharger (which is working prfectly) and some minor cosmetic issues, after market wheels, etc. is the stuff im dealing with. I can either start parting it out to put back to stock, but I am gonna take a huge hit on it. that's acceptable, i just dont wanna roll over like 5k onto a new car payment.

Did some research, cant find many sc's ones for sale, but realistaclly, anyone think I might be able to get 18-19k for the car? Stock ones are going for 14-15k with some similar mileage.

ugh,, i'm pissed. Dont really want another car, but it doesnt make sense to lose that money monthly. it's like a free car payment!

looks like someone is gonna get a really cheap sc kit locally soon.

honestly man if you have the option to get a car payment made for free every month than utilize it. Id get rid of the car, yes your taking a loss but if you add up that $450 that equals a loss of 5400 a year. So that would add up over time while your car still is loosing value

Just my two cents

Absolutley not. 18-19??? I wouldn't bet on it.
The way I see it and many others perhaps, S/C are cool and all....
But its more of a risk to inherit someone else problems. or soon to be future problems. unless you find a tuner thats making a kit car or something of that nature. maybe 18-19 if you were talking 40k-50k miles.

yeah i know i cant get 19k for it, i figured that. i know enough about risks and cars to know that, and i hate ripping people off. i guess my best bet is to part out asap. I just hate having to hassle with taking off the sc, and having to buy some small stock parts back. unless i can find someone who will just do a swap at a shop if they buy it.

return to stock first, part out, then upgrade to something better.

How much you think you'll be asking for S/C with part??? just asking..

i really wanna make the process as painless as i can, the sc has decent mileage on it, but it runs perfectly. so ideally, whoever buys it from me, we meet up at a shop and the shop does a swap out. i understand the labor is a lot on this, but i would be looking at prob getting 2500 for the kit, and you pay for the labor.

of course, i havent put any thought into this yet.

Is it financially possible to keep your car the way it is, and purchase a 2006+ Civic, Hyundai, Suzuki or other form of cheap car? This way you get the best of both.

How long until your finish paying it off?

Your job pays for your car note if it's under 4 years old? (Vehicle owned by you and not the company?) That's pretty awesome I've never heard of that before. Definitely get rid to save some cash. Plus you can't go wrong with an newer, better interior/exterior and motor (hr, stock wise anyways).

But just to double check, you can buy a vehicle under your name and your company will pay 450$ of it a month as long as it's not 4 years old?

haha i'm not in the financial peace of mind to buy a gtr.

yes my cmopany gives me a car allowance, since i use my car for business purposes. any car under 4 years, i get an allowance for.

i have about 2 years of payments left, so it's not even an option. i'm upside down about 5k on the car, and of course things like sc dont help anything.

it's a vortech v1 kit, i made 350 whp on a very conservative tune, mainly cause i had higher mileage than most cars.. i could have easily pushed it up to about 370. but i didnt.

i'm gonna be starting a part out thread soon. i've got my eyes on a g37s, but it's still early in the process. I was initially hoping to have it for another few months, and then upgrading to a cts-v or an m3 (09), but i just cant get mysefl to finance that much.

i am looking into the options for leasing, but most lease agreements are not very mod friendly, and i KNOW i will be adding FI to my next car (if it doesnt come with it)

just a heads up, mods i have :
motordyne plenum 5/16
topspeek hks style exhaust
full sc vortech v1 kit with utec and gauges
tokico d-spec (NIB for a z)
Hawk HPS Pads (NIB)

When i get back in town from business on thu, i will be putting up a sale thread.

This effin' blows.

haha guys i dont want huge payments. just cause i can afford em doesnt mean i should get em. i'm 27 now, i could go spend $ on a car with a 800-900 payment, but i need to save for other ****. i dont have **** fort savings to show.

so my plan has changed prob about 13,000 times today.

i checked on cheap lease cars, like the altima for 199 a month, but most leases limit you to 12,000 a year on miles, i drive WELL over 20k a year on my DD for work. so that's out.

at this point, i'm sitting at how much of a hit i'll take on the g and then how much i wanna pay as a car payment.

honestly right now, a used 08 z is looking good. i already have suspension stuff i can switch over from the g, and i can easily afford to boost it in a couple months.

found a nismo 08 z in grapevine. besides that rear end, what do you guys think about that car? it's an 08 with 33k on it, they want 23.5$ for it. it'll get boosted by this summer if i bought something under 24k. are the nismos built with stronger internals?

pretty sure the nismo's are the same engine just different suspension intake/exhaust and aero?

and just adding two years so you can do this again in two years?

uhm?
