Default Texas Nissan in Grapevine is annoying

My Z got totaled on the Westpark Tollway last week in Houston. So I am in the market for a new car. I am pretty much sold on a 06-08 BMW M Coupe, but I wanted to try the 370Z first. I was in north Fort Worth for a wedding Saturday, and when I had a little time I swung by Texas Nissan in Grapevine. I've bought parts from them, but never used any of their other services.

If you are in DFW and looking at buying a Z, new or use, DO NOT go to Texas Nissan in Grapevine. From the second I stepped foot onto the lot it was a total cluster f**k. I stopped to look at a used white 370Z. I just happened to be driving by and it caught my eye. I knew nothing about the car, but before I could even look at it a salesman was all in my face.

I play along and he sits me at a desk and starts taking my info. I tell him I want a 6spd. 370Z coupe in white, silver, grey and maybe blue. He gives me his life story and tells me he has been working at the dealership for four days. Another 10 or 15 minutes go by before I finally get to see the car.

As soon as I open the door I see it's an auto. Dealbreaker #1. He obviously did not remember or even register that I said 6spd.

He says well lets look and see what we have on the new lot. He doesn't take me to a car, he takes me to another d-bag salesman that has been there even less time. It may have been his first day for all I know. Then they take me to their fleet manager within 30 seconds before even getting to know what car I want.

I again tell, all three of them this time, I want a 370z 6spd. coupe in these colors.

The fleet manager says, "Oh we have one 2010 left and we will make a great deal with you..."

I say, "Why didn't you mention this before, let's see the car."

He points to a silver automatic convertible. Dealbreaker #2. To top it off, they had ZERO other 370s except for a brand new NISMO that was way out of my price range and was "not available for test drive." Dealbreaker #3

I'm fuming. All I wanted to do was test drive a car so that I can decide what I am going to get as soon as possible. Needless to say I got out of there, but not before wasting over an hour of my time and not even getting to drive one car. I won't be going back.

They even tried to tell me they could ship any car from across the country, but when they actually looked into their inventory they had one car in the country that matched my criteria. Are there any good dealers anywhere? I hate the car buying experience.

If you are in Houston, I saw a 40th anniversary 370Z sitting in the Sterling McCall Toyota pre-owned lot last week. I was there to look for a used mazda3 myself. Maybe you can check it out.

Sorry to bump this old a thread but I wanted to add to this. I need a daily driver and they(Texas Nissan) had an ad going for some pretty low priced used cars. It was specifically for a Mazda 3 hatch they had posted for 5999 on cars.com. I called them and they said it was still availabile.

I got there about an hour later and of course the car was gone(rage), so I started looking at other options. They had a 04 Ion coupe with a sticker of 5999, I asked the salesman to run up the numbers with a 2000 down payment. They randomly added 3500 grand worth of "service checkups" that they wouldn't go back on. They wouldve done the same with the other car as well

Just a heads up.

I purchased my previous Z from Texas Grapevine, they were decent. Tough to negotiate though.

it seems dealers dont know what 6spd means, because when i was picking out my car, I went to every dealer in the dfw metroplex (a lot of fking dealers) and only one actually took me to a 6spd z when the first and formost detail I mentioned to every dealer is that it MUST be 6spd. I hate how they just say whatever it takes to get you in the door, even if it involves lying.

I can vouch for URNISSANGUY as he is a personal friend and also owns a G35 himself. he knows the inside out of our cars since I have taught him!!! with that being said the prices they were offering were not bad at all and were def offering very good pricing on trades when I was in there this past week looking at Nissan Titans since I want to keep the next car/truck I buy in the Nissan family.

For a base model yes. You can even find that price at dealerships at times, and if not, haggle with them until there's no tomorrow.

I bought my 07 grand touring last month for 20k from the dealership. They had it listed for 22. It had 29k miles and had nav, brembos, v2 rays, yada yada.

There is a reason why people buy from dealerships, and keep in mind that dealerships do have good deals on certain cars at times.

Not all dealers price their cars to meet KBB value.

If they got the car in for a great deal, say from an auction or something, they may and usually sell below KBB for the reason that they are already making a lot of money off that single car.

Most prominently though, people purchase cars from dealerships because they can get financed through them. With that, they have a better chance of getting approved as opposed to getting a private loan from a bank.

Also, some people do not want to go through the hassle of selling their cars themselves. As a result, they trade their cars in to get it over with, despite the probability of losing money on their car.

That's a wise decision. My vlsd doesn't lock up very well.. And the grand touring weighs the most or maybe 2nd to most behind the nismo. Not sure which one is heavier..

Anywho, yes save money and get a base for around $16.5-18k with low miles!

Patience is key to finding the most suitable car for you, budget wise and preference wise.

Good luck dude

duckee - my point is that "we" are above that and don't need a dealer to sell us a
car. i can get whatever loan/line/float from my lender w/ nothing more than the
VIN of the car i'm buying. i can sell my own car on ebay if i'm in a jam, or privately
if i'm flush w/ time.

it's my personal opinion that most dealers are f'd and will do whatever they can
to screw you out of an extra cent or thou. warrantied repairs are the only reason
i've been to a dealer in 7 years.

point blank you'll never ever get the best possible deal when doing business w/
them due to their ridic overhead and sales needs.

private is the way to go if you're educated, liquid and capable.

if you'd prefer to get screwed try your local dealer.

^ I can live with that and mainly agree with you.

You have to understand that many people out there do not want to go through and figure out how to get a private loan, or even sell their cars. The consumers know they will be spoon fed and won't have to do or plan much besides signing a stack of papers, losing money on their trade in, as well as not getting the best possible deal for the car had they bought it from a private party for a better price.

Dealer benefits from that, as well as their warranties.

Most prominently though, the best deals out there are from people like you and I.

The only car I ever got through a dealer was a leased IS350. I'm all for private party buying, I just wanted a test drive and these a$$ clowns couldn't even get that right.

I won't go to a dealer ever unless I have to.

If you know the play at dealerships, it not to bad. Depending on what you want. I was looking for a very low mi. car and wanted certified. The first thing is don't let sales crowd you. I tend to scare the crap out of newbie sale folks... HA HA. second walk the lot and look at the inventory. When you have found a car or 3 go find the sales guy that stayed out of your GRILL and ask for asking price. Then thank him, say Ur goin to look around at other sonar cars and leave. Do not give pers. info and do not bring your own car ...trade or not. Go back the next day and ask to test the cars Ur looking at. Tell em u.want bottom line prices ( in writing) when you return. Do not go by mo. payments, do not talk trade... just bottom price and work from there. I got my.daughters new car down from 21,991 to 18,559. My 06 from 31,291 to 27,399 out the door. It's all about how you play the game. BTW... Courtesy in Richardson has some very good sales people. They have a very nice 2010 dark silver 370 MT with very low mi. not even a rock chip that I could see with Brems. Dunno the price though.
