advice on paint scratch in Plano area
Guys,
Some A-Hole put a scratch on my side door. It's not a door ding. There is NO indention whatsoever. It looks like someone took a metal bar a cut into the paint.
It's about 1 inch long (not big), but the metal is showing.
I need advice on how to fix it. I took it to courtesy nissan (they have a body shop on site). They said they would paint the entire door to fix it and charge $400.00.
First of all, i don't want my entire door repainted for a 1 inch scratch.
Any recommendations on where I can go to get this fixed professionally without dropping several hundreds of dollars and getting the entire damn door painted?

If the scratch has broken through the clearcoat and through the paint to the metal... touch up wont do you much good.
Now, if its just a scratch to the clearcoat, then you wetsand it and smooth out the area a little bit, but the scratch will remain.

First of all, thats how you fix a scratch on your door. Either live with it or have it fixed at a bodyshop.

Well, this sorta sucks. the scratch is right in the middle of the door. It's down to the metal, so yes, it's through the clearcoat, through the paint, and through the primer

put some touchup on there before rust does..... be very gentle, dont use the supplied brush that comes in the bottle, those suck. Go to a paint store like English Color, and but a brush touch from them.
Or, check it into the Betty Ford and get the door fixed right.
