ECU Tuning for Dummies...
I need the forum's help on a few things. I am going to keep my Z N/A for a while and I want some sort of tuning devise that I can dial in my A/F and whatever else I need to get my car running at its peak potential. I want to dyno tune it, but I have a few questions regarding what I need first. I would do a search, but I don't even know where to begin a search. I came from a muscle car backround so I know nothing about ECUs.
1) What do I need to be able to tune my car?
2) Is it even worth it on an N/A car?
3) What is a wideband?
We will start there. I am sure I will have a bunch more questions once I get those ones answered. Here are my mods...
Injen short intake
Kinetix V4 Plenum
Strup Headers
Helix Test Pipes
Injen exhaust
UR Crank Pulley
Technosquare ECU Reflash
I don't think the A/F ratio from the re-flash is right since I had it done before the headers and test pipes, plus I live in Vegas which ranges from 2200-2800 ft. above sea level and has relitively no humidity most of the year.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm at work, otherwise I would try and be more helpful, but quickly I can recommend a book worth buying, or even checking out at the library, called "How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems" by Jeff Hartman. I think it is published by Motorsports Workbooks, and is very good at covering the basics of engine tuning and input/output controls on an ECU. It also has detailed specs on almost every engine managment available to help pick one out. Worth looking at.

so can you only get the ecu reflashed at TS or AAM? Are there not areas that are more local where they could adjust AFR, advance timing, remove rev and top speed limiters, etc? For those in TX, can Jotech do this or some place in the DFW area? thanks

I go to Jotech alot, the ECU work is definitely something they don't do.

there is also the emanage ultimate, available at the moment. the utec is still a couple weeks out. there are others available that will just do a/f too. there is tons of reading available here on the eu, and more coming shortly on the utec. both very good comps, but each has there own benefits.

So I have the 2004.5 roadster manual (which is not on the map list) the 2004.5 runs the MEC35-360 B1 while the auto 2004.5 roadster (which is on the map list) runs the MEC35-350 B1 and the 2004 manaul has a MEC31-640 and I flashed stage 2 and went to uninstall got a fatal error (most likely becayse it is for the 2004.5 auto) does anyone know how I can get a custom or a workable map that I can install and most importantly uninstall? NEED ONE ASAP
