That's awesome. If you can get 12hp out of it with a reflash, then i could possibly get more out of mine since i have no reflash. I have 245 now and will be happy with 255 peak if i can get it. As long as i have an overall gain of at least 10. Mine comes in next Thursday.

nicely done

and you're right in that the UTEC is the way to go for any setup

atm i have similar mods......Fuji exhaust + ypipe, K&N intake and Crawfird high flow cats

i really want to do a chip next, but am still waiting for dealers in Aus to become familiar with the UTEC and tune a few cars so im not the guinea pig

tell me, am i being too cautious, or is the UTEC so easy to tune that anyone working with a unichip can do it?

I hear that. there aren't that many Z's, much less tuner shops that have "in-depth" experience with Z's in Hawaii. I doubt any shop here has worked with the UTEC yet.

I had my reflash done with my UTEC install to raise the rev limiter to 7200 rpm and remove the speed limiter on my 05. Both were performed at AAM. I wouldn't say the reflash is useless. Maybe after another update for the UTEC is released I might but who knows when that'll be?

This probably only pertains to 05s and up

Yeah... But I got a pretty good deal from AAM so I'm fine with how everything turned out.

Why would you Reflash the ECU in conjunction with the UTEC?

I don't think the UTEC has those functions working on the 05 Z's(rev and speed limiter) Isn't there some things that will work for 03-04 that won't work on 05's?

questions (bear in mind I am in the UK and up to now an ECU reflash has not been possible)

1- will it work on European cars?
2- who on earth would I go to to get it tuned in the UK? (any official lists of Uk UTEC tuners?)
3- if I buy it from one of the US guys here (Z1 etc) will the unit work on my car?
4- I have K&N Tiphoon, Kinetix V4 Plenum and Hi-Flow cats, and Milltek SS exhaust, should I then expect decent gains?
5- PRICE???

sounds like a great unit for my plans (stay n/a for now and go FI later)

TheMinel - easy enough to find out. Do you have the pinout diagram of a UK ecu that I can look at?

We could set the UTEC up with a basemap for similar mods, then it would be up to you to fine tune based on your gas, etc. As far as tuning, I know there are tuners in the UK who do the Subaru and Evo's with the UTEC. I could probably get some recommendations for you in this regard as well.

So Utec deos speed limiter, increseas redline (I have an '03), and sets a static map to control a/f... What about the throttle body thing where it's supposed to only open 80% stock? Does the UTEC correct that? Is it even true about the 80% thing? I've heard alot of conflicting stories over the months...

Also, What is the purpose of a stock or flashed ECU switching between different maps? If the UTEC just sets to one map, are there situations where this would not be optimal?

my stock throttle body logged 89% before and after my flash - I have nto logged it now to see what it does

the stock ecu is finicky - the UTEC is not
