Smile Noob UTEC & ECU Question.

I saw people refreshing their ECUs and people putting UTEC on their cars.

What is difference between ECU refreshing and UTEC?

If you put UTEC do you take out the stock ECU?

I have a 06 Z and it seems to be the pedal method doesn't work for 06.

and If you get the UTEC do you have to bring it to tuner to get it tune after any performence mods? or is it pretty easy to tune it by myself after installing?

Thanks for reading and I hope I get good suggestion and answer.

+1 on that thread. its easy to tune once you figure out exactly HOW it works and understand what you are changing.

go to turboxs.com and download the manual for the utec. its free. then read it a few times and if you think you can understand that enough to tune it then go for it.

it well outways the reflash in my opinion cause i can tune it myself. on the other hand if i had to pay 400-500 to have someone do it. i would probably just leave it stock..... right

I agree.
The flexibility outweighs the flash.

The flash does do a couple things the UTEC won't, though. You can change cam timing (not a huge deal) and remove the speed limiter. Otherwise, though, as far as actual tuning goes, you can get it with the UTEC and retune with more mods (instead of paying out the *** over and over to keep it perfect, you just pay out the *** once).
