UTEC 'Upgrade?'

The spreadsheet was less then accurate for me, but after I tweaked it a bit my temp correction works great. I'm in Ohio, so my car sees temps from 10 - 100 degrees.
I'm going to be switching to the UTI now that I have my carputer set up, I hope it works as well as people say it does. I'll be using the AEM wideband.

I agree about the temp correction stuff. I'm still not sure if mine is setup right and I had to beg forever to get that excel spreadsheet.

Started messing with the UTEC again and noticed these two programs in this thread.
http://mpsav.com/MPSUTECLogger/MPS_U...r_Download.htm
http://www.jeffsoftware.com/software.php?product=UTI
Which one of these two are people using right now and why?
I downloaded and installed the MPS logger but have not tested it yet. Loaded it up, but it does not have a option for the 350z. Looks like the Jeffsoftware one supports the 350z.
Pros and cons of either one?
Thanks
Todd

I've had success with mps_uteclogger. Was able to get rid of a nagging CEL with it and improve the column 0 tune significantly.
UTI has some great functionality but only sort of worked when I last tried it. That was way back when he was first adding support for the AEM UEGO and 350Z. Its really designed and tested with the Suby. I gave up on it. He may have improved things since then though and would be greta if it works.

I just got UTI installed.
Here are my initial impressions:
Installation is a pain. It doesn't come with an installer, so you have to manually copy files to the /windows/system32 folder and manually register the .dll files. I got it to work fine on my laptop, but it was missing a .dll on my carputer. I had to find the .dll on my laptop and copy it to my carputer and then manually register it because that specific .dll file wasn't included in the software package.
As far as I can tell, it doesn't have a 'full screen' display mode, which is terribly inconvenient. It does have a full screen 'guage' mode, but it only dipslays a/f and boost - in an analog guage format. I really like the MPS full screen digital guage display. My carputer displays on my OEM navi screen, so the bigger the better.
I haven't gotten in to the logging yet, but it looks really cool.
I REALLY like the max boost pop up - that is a cool feature. After a pull a small screen pops up for a few seconds and reports the max boost.
I also really like auto logging options, although I haven't used them yet.
I didn't have any problems connecting to the 350z version of the UTEC or my AEM wideband. It seems to be reporting all values correctly.
I have found one bug already - if you hit F4 to go to carputer mode and then go to options, when you exit the options menu the software crashes. I also was unable to exit carputer mode. Carputer mode itself was a bit disapointing, as all it seems to be is the same interface laid out for a touchscreen. I was hoping for something that would be more suited for a non touchscreen, small display.
Overall, in a direct comparison between MPS logger and UTI I can't say that there is a definate winner. The UTI definately has more features, but it cost $20. In my opinion, I'm not sure the extra features are worth the money. I think that MPS is one update away from being the better (and free) software.
It still amazes me that these two individuals have made such great software packages for the UTEC, when TurboXS can't seem to figure it out. Kudos to both Jason and Jeff.

Does the new version have an 'auto connect' feature?
The program does remember the last ports that you used, so they don't need to be setup everytime if you connect them to the same com ports on the PC each time. Does this help?

By 'auto connect' I mean will it try to automatically connect to saved port settings when the program starts.
I am running a dedicated carputer that does everything automatically. I don't want to have to push a button to connect, I want the computer to load, start up the logging program, and connect with no interaction. The last version did not have this feature and that is why I no longer use your software. The UTI software package has this feature and that is the reason why I use it. I actually like your interface better, as it is full screen.
Now that I think about it, it would be cool if it would open, automatically connect (if that option is selected) and then maximize the guage display screen. You could call it a 'carputer' mode or something.
Without that feature, I'll stick with Jeff's UTI software - it's logging capabilities are more advanced and it's $10 cheaper!

KPierson - Ahh I get it. Consider it at the top of the features list for the next minor rev. "CarPuter Mode" that will do exactly what you mentioned.
BTW, Registered users will get free minor revision upgrades.
