Default Hyperterminal displays when UTEC out of car but not in

So last night I setup the UTEC software and hooked it to my laptop, worked perfectly... the utec hyperterminal screen came up immediately. After installing in the car and trying it, it doesn't work. The serial cord is attached firmly and I ran through the software just like I did last night... really don't want to have to take it out again... any ideas?

A little OT... Once you get the UTEC installed and the dash put back together, do you need to take anything apart again during operation or tuning, be it for hooking up cables or to flip switches or adjust settings? Just wondering how user friendly the tuning of the unit is once it's installed. I would rather not have to get into the dash every time I tweak it.

No need to tear apart the dash every time so long as you leave either a serial or USB cable hanging down to plug into your laptop. You can even change the selected map while the UTEC is installed fairly easily...
