Default Installed Utec... help

I jus installed my utec and i ran into some problems. I installed everything to see if the utec actually worked and i hoped that the utec i received were the older and not defected ones. I set the utec in the pre-programmed base map on map 1. When i started it, the idle for a sec seemed to drop almost stalling but after a couple seconds, the idle would go back to normal. When i turn the car off and turn it back on, the idle doesnt drop anymore. I also noticed to be smelling more exhaust fumes as if i was running really rich. I went to drive the car hoping that mayb the utec needed to read my mods but it felt really really slow. It seemed as if it was bone stock and had no kick to it. I didnt know what to do so i switched the base map to map 0 and it went back to normal. It felt the same power i had before i installed it.

Im guessing, the base map isnt tuned for my setup but some members on this board says that they actually gained lil hp but i actually lost power. Is it because of my cams that gave me a diff result?? Anyone have any idea to whats going on?

im gettin the car tunned at MRC next week or so to get a tune. Hopefully, they can give me a good tune and good gains. I'll keep u guys posted to what happens.

The 1st map is for a simple intake exhaust setup. i would bet the house that you having cams is affecting how your car running with the utec. take it to mrc and get a good tune. you'll be happy with the results.

Honestly, your map is not for the modifications you have. I wouldnt expect it to be even close.

Do you have a wideband?

Jay, the UTEC base map is not meant for HP gains. Call me up for an appointment, I have some openings on the dyno this week if you wish to get it tuned.
