Any plans for MAP sensor input? Without a MAP sensor of some kind, the Cobb system would not be suitable for high boost applications. For NA applications...looks very promising.

I would think so since they are mainly a WRX/STi tuner company?

I think the WRX/STi already has that input stock.

The AP for subys is just for manipulating tables on the factory ECU. They don't add any extra hardware (just a software thing). That's just what I know from the Suby version...

A/F, timing, VTT adjustments, sensor logging, disabling CELs, MAF adjustments, injector sizes, throttle, etc are all things we can current do and will be including with the new AccessPORT. We are actively tuning local 350Zs, G's, and even Titan trucks, Xterras, etc so we're working hard to bring a quality product to market.

PC connectivity is included through the USB port. Management software allows you to stay up to date with the latest calibrations (maps) as well as firmware updates.

As PunnKid stated, we can't add hardware as we're limited to what the factory ECU has for hardware. However with regards to boosted applications you can still tune for them accurately without a MAP sensor, you just cannot control boost with the factory ECU. For example, the Mitsubishi EVOs do not have a MAP sensor. The fact that you have a Mass Air Flow sensor allows you to measure air flow entering the engine and from there determine the engine load. Another example is some turbocharged German cars that don't even have boost maps but rather rely on "Requested Torque" maps to determine ultimately what is their boost control strategies.

As for a status update, things are moving along well. Still on target to make an announcement at SEMA with regards to exact release dates but so far we haven't run into any delays. Biggest delay has been with our new website so we can communicate our expansion beyond only Subaru.

Cheers,
Trey @ COBB

What is VTT adjustments? Will you be able to have an addon hardware such as a A/F display since 04.5+ have wideband stock?

VVT (Variable Valve Timing)...sorry for the typo. That means we can control the cam timing, intake and (when equipped) exhaust.

And yes, the AccessPORT can display A/F for the 04.5+ models. For those that use the tuning software (laptop based), we have free plug-ins to allow the ability to datalog virtually all commerical wide-bands in the software along with the engine parameters. These would include LC-1, LM-1, Zeitronix, Motec, AEM, etc.

Thanks,
Trey

Wow, this is as good as the new UTEC? Will all of these features be active once released?
Excellent work, hopefully there wont be a extra premium charge because its a Z/G item like a lot of companies do.

Trey I saw you mention 04.5+. What about 03 - 04? Will we have the same features and control?

Yes, same features and control for 03-04 models so far as ECU tuning is concerned. Keep in mind the AccessPORT is an ECU programmer. We don't add any hardware. Once you've downloaded the map from the AccessPORT to your ECU, you can disconnect it and the data will stay on the ECU until you program back over it.

As for compared to the UTEC, its difficult to say. The UTEC is an excellent device and very effective. The AccessPORT will be another alternative and give Z/G owners more choices. It would be impossible to say one solution will always be better than another, it will be up to what meets your individual needs best.

Features discussed should all be available at release, with the ability to add more in time. As shown in the Subaru market, we continue to refine our mapping and tools and make those updates available to the users for free. That's to say that whatever is released initially (based on what we've discussed thus far) will be a start and we'll continue to add features based on user feedback. We try and keep the process and product organic, so we can grow it based on how it is used.

Cheers,
Trey @ COBB

So basically what you are saying is this unit will have the same abilities as the UTEC? If someone is staying NA, your unit will allow them to control/alter any variable they could dream of.

Also, you mentioned datalogging. Will this allow the end-user to go in with their own laptop/computer and make any changes they wish to timing/fuel delivery/cam timing etc?

Is the use of the accessport on a per car basis. Basically is the accesssport good only for use on a single car? Can multiple cars be tuned w/ the same accessport?
Thanks for the information.

PS: is there any knock sensitivity and retardation capabilities.

Acree - the StreetTUNER + AccessPORT combination is more directly comparible to the UTEC and will give the end user the ability to manipulate their engine mapping directly. However, just using the AccessPORT alone does not give you the ability to make your own maps. We offer these different "levels" because not necessarily everyone wants to tune their own car. We don't want to force those people to buy something they will not use or find value in, but we offer it as something that one can upgrade to at any time.

plumpzz - One AccessPORT per ECU. You can uninstall from one ECU and install to another ECU as many times as you want. However, it can only be installed (in-use) on one ECU at a time.

Thanks,
Trey @ COBB

Trey, do you know how high will we be able to raise the idle? I am looking for 1000 to 1200 rpm idle. Also, will there be no limitation to advance and retard degrees on the VTC pullies in order to utilize the Nismo VTC pullies?
