Default Utec Issues

Hey fellas,

I am going to rant a little as I am pretty frustrated with the company I have been dealing with about my UTEC problems.

I purchased from Tuning Factory, a sponsor here, a UTEC, wideband tuner and remote switch. I sent them Postal Money Orders on 7-18 and they received it on 7-19. After many days calling, pm'ing and emailing as to where my stuff was, it finally showed up to me on 7-29. I immediately triedhooking up the UTEC via Hyperterminal and got nothing. I tried half the day Saturday and almost all day Sunday with the Help of Jeremy(audiblemayhem). He told me to keep trying as you have to play with the settings to get the thing to work.. I tried and tried and tried but no luck.. SO I shipped it back, overnight to Tuning Factory Mon 7-31 where Jeff had assured me we can cross ship and I would receive my new one today 8-1... Well they received mine and had their Tech Dan work on it.. I called him twice, first time to make sure he recieved it and 2nd to see if it was me or the UTEC. He told me it wasnt me and he has the same problem; no connection via HT and cannot flash either..

I just want a UTEC that is going to work, and be told that it is actually going to be at my doorstep when they say its going to be there, with 0 problems. I have been told my stuff has shipped 10 times and that all turns out to be untrue.

I just want what I have paid for 12 days ago, that actually works. Is that so wrong? I am tired of looking like I am bugging people when I call, email for pm them..

Ok rant over..

Don't worry. Jeff is a good guy. I have dealt with him with a similar Utec issue. Just be patient. It will take a while depending on stock and shipment. It took me a month to resolve my issue.

Jeff and Tuning Factory was very helpful with the whole situation. They are very busy people and it can be hard to get in touch with Jeff since he's on the Dyno sometimes.

I never said Jeff was a bad guy.. I have never had to deal with a company that would tell me "it shipped", then wait for a tracking number, then the next day tell me, "Ken, IT SHIPPED" then wait for a tracking number then the next day.... same thing.. I basically took it as BS'ing me when it could of been handled a different way simply saying "I am having issues with the UTEC right now and will let you know when I get it out to you.." Period..

Now what is so wrong with that? Whats wrong with being honest to your clients?

Today I was told they have them in stock, and mine is getting shipped TODAY. THEN I hear they dont have 1 to send because Turboxs needs to get with them as to why they are having these problems. So, which is it?

Kenk,

I am not sure of your problem but, I am confident that Tuning Factory will take care of you. If you continue to have issues please call our shop and speak to a Tech. If you feel the need you can even ask for me.

Thanks,

Jermaine,

As of right now, the UTEC has been shipped back to Tuning Factory.. The techs there are having the same problem I had.. No HT connection and not able to flash. From what they are telling me, is that they are waiting on you to figure out what is going on.

Yea I can call you, but I dont have anything here to work with.. Just an idea, but maybe you can ship it out to me, an actual working unit..?? Tuning Factory has to send all of theirs back to you as none of them work either..

Follow up..

I received the new UTEC last night and it hooked into HT no problems.. Uploaded my map, and away I went with the install..

Install sucked ***** but the car runs great.

My understanding with these UTEC's after reading and having my own experience with them is if you get one that works your first try, then your lucky.. I came down pretty hard on Tuning Factory and they seemed to handle it pretty well.. They may have some growing pains right now and some communication issues but they delivered as promised even tho I was pretty hard on them. Jeff, Derrick and Dan, I appreciate your hard work trying to get me a working unit, even when I was pissed!

Lastly..

I feel TXS should try and care about the situation that either dealers or their customers are having with these UTEC's.. Too much money is being lost on shipping due to faulty units. They damn near cost $1k, and it almost seems like an inconvenience to get any sort of support.. Take care of your customers as thats what pays the bills..

Just an OPINION

I also bought a Utec from Tuning Factory and their service was top notch. I havent hooked up the utec yet and hopefully i dont get any problems when i do. If their was a prob, Tuning Factory should replace it wit a functional 1 wit no problem.

Alot of times the retailer is cought in the middle as they themselves do not warranty a product. The manufacturer warranties the product and retailer has to wait for an OK from them to exchange it for you the customer. It seems like a PITA and it is but that is the way it works most of the time... It seems that Tuning Factory is stepping up for people tho...

As far as the UTEC goes (I do not own one) remember it is an electrical component that depending on how handled on shipping, could be thrown and jared around a bit by Fed Ex or UPS which could impact the preformance...

I am up in the Air between the UTEC and the E-manage Ultimate myself....

Why is the UTEC better?

I did not know that... Is that the same with the E-Man Ultimate or just the 1st release?

Can the Utec Raise the Idle and the Rev Limit in an '04?

TurboXS has provided nothing but spectacular customer service to myself and my customers. Hats off to them.

With any highly technical product, there are bound to be a couple units that malfunction. We have had 2 bad UTEC's out of about 60 sold. That is a pretty good rate.....far better than the eManage's or Split Second boxes.

Anyways, in both cases, TurboXS dispatched a brand new replacement unit, the same day they recieved our return....no questions asked.

I specifically dealt with Tuning Factory. I never called TXS as I didnt feel it was necessary as I didnt purchase the unit from them.

As of right now, I have the UTEC installed, along with the Widebamd Tuner and all seems to be going OK right now. I need to get everything put back together, then get ahold of a laptop so I can tune.

Like I said in an earlier post I am thankful for the service I got from Tuning Factory, just wish it could of been better, thats all..
