Default AEM Standalone FMS for 350z

Ok so I talked to my boy Geovannie @ Titan Motorsports and he told me Sound Performance takes the AEM standalone and tailors it for the 350z, harness and sensors included (according to a guy at sound perfomrance.

I also asked a guy at sound performance if their setup worked on a G35 and he said it hasn't been tested on it. Shouldn't it be the SAME???
To my knowledge, they are identilal in every way BUT the grounds. I heard the grounding points are different.

Any obrservations?

I would think it would be the same if they are making it plug and play, all of the kits and piggybacks work on both now, some kits only vary in intakes, only differences would be physical installation depending on where they are tucking it away at.

I'm not sure what a dbw is...
They are selling it for $3000.00 retail. I heard I could get it for around $2600.00. IMO I don't think they've sold that many if the price tag is that high.

I need to give them another call. Thing is I'm out of town and I left their phone # at home.

Anyone got their website?

dbw module- drive by wire module which controls the throttle and many variables are directly or indirectly connected to it like Cruise Control, VDC, Idle selenoids etc.

oh ok LOL! Yeah I spoke to one of their lead guys there today and he said that the stock ecu will still control the dbw so its not a TRUE standalone.

AEM themselves will never directly release a EMS for a DBW vehicle for 1) because of the liability-considering the EMS would control the actual throttle of the vehicle and think if for any reason the throttle stuck and someone ends up dead, and then a insurance company starts doing some digging and finds out that this unit controls the throttle then AEM and the family of said driver ends up sueing AEM for the damage and possible loss of a loved one.

2) AEM has already figured out the drive by wire programming but chooses not to supply the dbw market with a ems because of what was stated about

This info was all given to me via a AEM EMS field rep when I was having a discussion about DBW.

Also on a side note I have a AEM EMS going into my car very soon for testing. I physically have the unit in my hand but the customer's car we tried to install it in we had problems with.

I am pretty sure it must be a wiring or programming issue because I know Larry from SP and Jason from AEM are very intelligence tuners.

Just my .02 cents.

Let us know how the install and tuning goes .
I take it , it is going to be installed in a 350Z or a G35 ?
Where is the unit going to be mounted ?

The unit is going into our G35C.

We are working on our own TT kit using twin GT35R's, Custom long tube turbo manifolds, a setrab intercooler core, twin Tial 50mm BOV's, twin Tial 44MM WG's, 1000CC RC Injectors and a Tuning Factory Inc. full fabricated fuel system with return line, 3" Tuning Factory Dual Exhaust with WG dumps and exhaust dumps.

Within the next 6-8 weeks it will be done, but I will keep everyone informed on how the AEM works out.

The UTEC itself doesnt really have any problems, when installed correctly.. You 'might' end up getting a defective 1 but, that is like a select few.. Even if you do get a defective one, you can ship it back and whomever you bought from, hopefully a sponsor on this site, they will have no problems getting you a new one.. Once the UTEC is in and running, its a dream.. My car has woken up the last 2 days as I have gotten the A/F ratio almost perfect.. You dont need to have a tuner do it for you as you can do it all yourself.. That is if you get the Wideband with the UTEC.. And if you are going FI or NOS, it works even better... You have to be patient with the UTEC but when its all said and done, it works and is not buggy AT ALL..
