Default Unichip Tune on my N/A Z - (dyno included)

Brought my car over to the good folks at Z Car Garage last week for a unichip install and dyno tune. As usual, I am very happy with the work from Rob and crew. They know way too much about Z's..
My car is a weekend track toy so my goal was to safely take advantage of the breathing mods that I've added to my car over the years. Rob was able to get some added torque in the midrange to help me scoot out of corners. They conservatively tuned the top end keeping in mind that the car will be run hard for 30 minutes at a time during lapping sessions. They said if it were a street car, they could have gotten some more top end power for bigger peak numbers / bragging rights. The car performed flawlessly last weekend at Thunderhill with temps in the upper 90's.

Looks like a 10-15 trq difference in the midrange. I bet thats noticeable

Very nice, thank you for the dyno. So you were running a little bit leaner than you needed to be, and they richened it up? Is that correct?

Yes, they richened it up mostly in the mid range. As the revs grow past 5k, the A/F tapers back to stock levels. I believe they adjusted timing slightly as well.

Don't you mean they were leaning it out a bit?, and then it richens up closer to redline? otherwise your AF graph would be the other way round.

can I ask how much for the unichip and the dyno session total?

It feels a little stronger in the midrange. It seems to be more noticeable on cool nights. 1st and 2nd go by a little faster.
Don't you mean they were leaning it out a bit?, and then it richens up closer to redline? otherwise your AF graph would be the other way round.
Did I mix up the terminology? They brought the A/F from 14.1 down into the 13's. I'm a suspension guy, that's why I bring the car to the experts for the engine

You can call them up for official pricing, but for me it only took an hour on the dyno followed by a brief road test. I was in and out in about 1.5 hours.

I've got a borla exhaust, HF cats and a pop charger. I've mostly been concentrating on handling mods.

If I'm not mistaken, the higher the number, the more air there is to fuel. I.E., 14.1:1 is leaner than 13.5:1 is in terms of air:fuel ratio. So in fact if they dropped it from 14.1 to somewhere in the 13's, they richened up the mixture.

Sorry, your right, richening it will lower the ratio. But i thought that a factory tune comes fairly rich already, and so to bring out the power, tuners lean it out a bit, to get a better and cleaner burn from the fuel. I'm really confused now!

The factory tunes can vary. Some are very lean, and others are very rich. And with lot of NA mods, changes are that your AF ratio will be a little bit on the lean side prior to tuning. Rob did I nice job with this one...good work.

ah..well tell us more! The Spec V also uses throttle by wire..or no?

On the Z, we cant even raise the idle with the FCON, or the super expensive Marreli.

Yes the Spec V also uses Drive by Wire for the throttle body. I don't know what the setting is called on the Unichip but I would Turbonetics and ask them. Cause I know they raised the idle and rev limiter for the Spec V which uses the Unichip Q for tuning.
