I'm working on this. I'm going to experiment with the AEM UEGO AFR Display Gauge, and if the configurable 0-5v output on the Tuner is scalable enough to provide the proper output for the AEM.

Ok folks,

For those still interested I have a small update.

I finally got around to wiring up my AEM AFR Display Gauge. I spent about 20 minutes trying to find settings on the Tuner to scale the 0-5v output.

I think I've got it. I need to do more testing/logging to ensure there is no drift (I'm still technically working so I can't just go for a cruise right now).

I set the Analog Output Limits accordingly:
Analog Lower Limit (0v): 0
Analog Upper Limit (5v): 18

Here is the result at idle:

So, looks like good news for AEM AFR gauge so far. Now I just need to make sure I don't get snookered by drift as the RPM's and AFR change.

More to come..

Good Job Smoky

Kinda sucks that we have to purchase 2 A/F displays just so we dont have some big box sticking out like a sore thumb

Thx guys. It's working great!

But FYI, I purchased my gauge here.. best deal on a new part and shipping I could find. They have free shipping on this at the moment.

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before, but as i'm slowly learning about how the UTEC operates, i keep running across different accesories that may aid me. One being the UTEC Tuner. I wasn't aware that there were different variations of the Tuner. Now i see there is the Tuner Pro-Bosch, Tuner Pro-VW, Tuner-Bosch, and Tuner-VW. All have different prices. I assume they come with different options and things, but their website is a little unclear what one provides over the other. Can someone point me to the system that most people use and why it's better than the other? Also, is it correct that the Tuner (in any style) will work for ANY UTEC? Meaning a dude selling a Tuner for super cheap that he used in his XXXX will work in my 350 along with my 350 specific UTEC? I don't see why it wouldn't because the Tuner's are listed for sale in a totaly seperate section than 350z specific section. Also, to connect a seperate A/F gauge like you guys are talking about, can all the Tuner's do that, or???

Thanks Smoky! Let me know as I'm waiting to purchase the A/F gauge myself.

Subrwho: The best thing you are doing is the research! As far as the TXS widebands the main between the Tuner and the Tuner-Pro is the Knock Sensor. The Pro has the Knock Sensor which is great for F/I cars. You don't really need it on a N/A car. The Pro also has more great features but are mainly used for F/I cars. Now as far as the VW or Bosch sensor they are both great I've just heard that the Bosch can take a little more of a beating, to say. I order the Tuner wideband with the Bosch sensor myself. Hope this helps you!

Yes, it does help! Since i'll be doing the intall of my Greddy twins later this week, i want to make sure i get everything ready to install at the same time. And as for the Tuner Pro, is it really necessary to even be able to see the unit (I'll follow in your footsteps and go Tuner Pro-Bosch as well)? I mean, i know that it's handy to be able to see A/F while driving and road tuning, but the UTEC can log your tuners A/F anyway right? So technicaly, you wouldn't even need to see the digital display if you chose not to. Am i understanding that correctly?

If you're F/I, I would want to see my A/F. I'm N/A myself and still want to see my A/F. Thats why I'm so interested in what Smoky is doing. Its just helpful on knowing what going on with your engine. While you will need to see it while tuning you also want while daily driving. The UTEC will datalog everything but you're not going to have your laptop next to you all the time. Since your F/I your A/F can/will change and you want to make sure you don't hurt your engine by running too lean/rich. I say keep an eye on what Smoky is doing and go his route if you stick with the Tuner-Pro wideband.

I absolutely will. I think it's a bad *** idea and can't wait to see his final result. I hope it's quickly so i can, again, install as much as i can at the same time.
As for having my laptop next to me.. Yes, i will actualy. I built myself a laptop mount that folds nicely under the dash and then can be extended to sit facing me right next to my shifter. I just bought a laptop to stay in the car on a semi-perminent bases (come out when i park for long periods of time) for tuning reasons.
But again, i'd like to have an A/F gauge as well for those times i pull the laptop out, or it breaks, or someone steals it... You know.. just in case.

Ok, located a Turbo XS Tuner Pro-Bosch for $265 shipped on another forum i'm a member of. Has a bunch of pictures up and looks really clean. Says it was in the car for less than 3 months. Would i need a new sensor, or will a slightly used one work? Working out a deal for a A/F gauge as well.

If it works it should be just fine. If the sensor has not been dropped/abused then it should be fine too. You will probably want to do a free-air calibration before install, just to be sure it is working ok and sync'd with the Tuner.

I assume the info on how to do that will be in the manual? I'm guessing it works along the same lines and the UTEC and a 9v battery? Meaning that i can test the functions outside the car to varify it's in correct working condition. Or could be way off... Either way, i can't wait to get all these things in!

Subrwho: I just talk to World One Performance and ask the difference between the VW & Bosch wideband sensor. They recommend the Bosch and the VW is just a cheap alternitive. The Bosch read your A/F much faster, and will last longer (can take more of a beating). Hope this helps you out or clears it up more.
