I am very much wanting a EMS right now...lol...I am almost at the impatient point but my question is how close are these systems in terms of functionality. I know that the AEM can be tuned by more people since the software is available to download but someone is flying in to Hawaii in 2 months and they can tune HKS-Fcon. If the systems are similar I will wait for the AEM however if the HKS-Fcon is superior I need to jump on this soon to get a tune in when possible since we have no local tuner.

The AEM is being modified to work with our cars by sound performance. That means no direct support from AEM if you have a problem. I would go with FCON or wait till the new User interface comes out for the UTEC.

The FCON is a dream to tune with, and is one of few systems, where AF target tuning works PERFECTLY and accurately.
AEM is a terrific system as well, but the FCON is a step above, IMHO.
That said, once both cars are tuned with either system, I bet the user would be hard pressed to tell the difference between both systems.
We've tuned a few AEM's on Hondas, Subs, and Evo's, but nothing with the 350Z just yet. If the 350Z AEM is bug free, and 100% enabled, that would be a terrific option...especially for those without an FCON tuner in their area. But I would love to play with the AEM 350Z unit, and see if things like launch control, cam phasing, no lift shift, and other functions work 100% correctly...all of the time.

The AEM is fully enabled & BUG FREE... I personally go the VPRO route, IF you have worked with both systems, stability wise, etc... FCON all the way... AS Sharif stated, it is definately a step above...

Although there isn't much press on this, the Hydra is a full stand alone with 32x32 AF mapping... Makes an interesting case in the AEM vs. F-Con debate. Although the F-Con is proven as a great EMS, the pain is that if you don't have an authorized dealer close by, you're screwed. With Sam@GTM working on the AEM unit, I'm sure it'll be something good when it's finally available for the masses. As for the Hydra, Vinnie Ten at Performance has been using this for a while, and with it's capabilities and readily available software support, it's quickly turning into another major contender for those looking for a full stand-alone.
In any case, I definitely think that '07 is going to be a good year for the VQ crowd
