I've been seeing lcd screens that display engine management. I think they're just regular video headunit and not just a screen. What does it require, and how do i do it. I just think it would be awesome to have it display gauges, engine stats and such. Don't flame me i tried to search and found nothing. I'm new to the tuner world. Thanks

 

If you want to just use a regular monitor, then you'll need a carputer hooked up to your engine management (emanage, utec, etc.), Cipher, or something similar. You can't just hook up a monitor to your car.

 

could i hook up the utec tuning unit to a general alpine screen, and use that. Or would that not work.

If you are using a display without a PC it would need to support terminal emulation. The best alternative would be a carputer, but the displays for most tools/utilities that could monitor ODBII or UTEC typically are designed for a higher resolution display than a small LCD offers. It can be done, I'm sure, but likely you would want some custom code for your interface.
