Default From SS Box to Utec

Ok... I am running the SS box at the moment and I believe when it was installed they had to cut / splice wires to get it installed... I am considering the UTEC now and wanted to know how much of a PITA it is to make the switch.

any help is appreciated, thanks.

just wire it back to stock and its plug and play, except if you have a Vortech well, it tells the inline pump when to turn on.

that will be your only issue.

i would just ditch the FMU and put some big injectors in there.

Can I just buy a new wiring harness for my ECU instead of taking a chance on re-wiring back to stock? Is that even an option?

Hey Art this is Travis from AZ, anyway I am sure that your installer just piggybacked onto the existing lines so all you need to do is cut the lines from the SS box and make sure that there are no exposed wires on your ECU harness. The UTEC plugs into the stock harness and then the stock ECU plugs into the UTEC. Install time is like 30 minutes from start to finish. Good idea ditching the SS box and the inline pump. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Wassuppp Trav

Well with those lines cut wouldn't I have to splice it into the Utec since there would not be anything to connect it to... Isnt the SS box hardwired to the ECU in a sence?

Or is it tapped in mid stream?

Thanks Trav

Tapped midstream is a good way of describing it. All you need to do is take out the SS box by cutting the wires that were tapped into your ECU harness and slap the UTEC in and your good to go. I would recommend getting the Turbo XS Map sensor so you can tune your car more accuratly. I think it is referred to speed density mode when you base your tune off of pressure from the sensor as oppossed to the MAF voltage which is how your car is tuned now. Plus with the UTEC you can get the remote map selector switch and toggle between your 91 and 94 octane maps with the flick of a switch.
