UTEC knock reading and parameters
Hi all,
I've a NA European 350Z with some mechanical mods (cams, intake, plenum, heades, kat, exhaust) and I have installed UTEC.
First I change something in AF map, I see with a sensor that now at 100% TPS I'm about 13-12,3 AFR from 3000 to 7000rpm.
I start to read the stock map timing with the UTEC LOG and I try to change some timing with +4 deg correction on the whole map, using 100 octane fuel (Shell V-Power).
I set the knock param to 110-110-100-90-80-80-80-80 as the UTEC manual, but I have many knocks between 4200 and 5200, at 6000, and over 7000.
Besides, I see knokcs with the ECU timing also.
I try to read the LOG but I can't see the correction, I see the correction deg in dashboard only but in realtime.
So I don't understand the type of correction: some times I see 1 knock only but I feel the cut and sometimes I see 4 or more knocks but I don't feel cuts...
I think I have the knock parameters too highs... but I have fear to make a bad adjustment and cause some damage to engine with a non-conservative map.
I see on some Turbo maps I can download from the TXS site the parameters are 100-90-80-70-60-50-50-50... It seems too low...
Anyone can advise me for the knock parameters settings?
You know a way to log the dashboard correction?
Thank you,
Nik

change the knock correlation to 3 or 4 first.
then make it right around 90 80 70 60 60 60
watch your factory timing and see if it is retarding it. if so then your car is truly knocking.
datalog while you are on the main page using the number 1. read through the manual how to record it all.
thanks!!

I will set Knock Threshold to 100-90-80-70-60-60-60-60 and the Knock Count Threshold to 3. Is it right?
The log show me both params: ING DEG and ING MOD.
When the stock ECU cut the timing for knock, will I see a low value in the ING DEG field (comparing with map0 value)? How many deg the stock ECU cut?
I have a doubt also for the DBW software: when I made the flash to the UTEC to install the 2.8d software I don't made the flash for the DBW... I see now in the manual that it is possible by switch to B psition the CPU selector.
Do you think it's better to do this upgrade also?
