Default Utec install cost?

How much should I expect to pay for a Utec install in a "G"?

I also have 660 Inj's on the way, can the stock fuel system handle these or should I go for a CJM return kit and walbro?

its a pretty straight forward process as far as installing it. You can do it yourself easily, the harness is completely plug and play. Tuning it on the other hand is another story.

You'll need a flash if you want to run the 660s on the stock ECU.

Yeah, I definately will get it tuned somewhere... I am not going to mess with that myself quite yet.

I heard install on a "G" is a PITA to get it to fit... I guess I can take the under dash apart and dremel out a place for it. I am skiddish on installing it myself then driving an hour away for tuning...

Also have to take the SS box out as well.

I thought the Utec can scale the 660's? What kind of flash do you reccomend?

Sorry, I thought you meant to have the stock ECU run them. For UTEC, you'll have no problem.

Art,

The install is definitely a piece of cake. If you want some help I can lend a hand if needed . As for placing the UTEC in a G so it is out of sight, good luck making room . I tried to move stuff around for hours and could not get it fully hidden. A dremel will work if you want to start hacking the wire harnesses that are in the way lol.

As for limping it to the tuner, TXS has some base maps you can load of off their website. Just don't hit boost on the way down there and you will be fine. Thats what I will be doing next week. Call me if you have any more questions.

At least get a walbro. They are only around $90 shipped. I am running 650's and a walbro which is the fuel setup of choice by Performance Factory in FL for their vortech'd motors. This being owners that are not ready to spend the money on a return system.

Yeah, i'm going to UMS. I'm pretty confident that Tony will do a good job since he has tuned many utecs before. He also tuned TTrank's sedan which is pushing over 400rwhp on a stock block greddy tt setup

for a vortech... 550 and 650 would be plenty. walbro would be a good idea. the return is a waste for vortech setups.

What is your reasoning for that?

Nope, just using the proven SS box. No real need for the UTEC.

No, I don't carry the UTEC. I can order though.

I have been running the SS box with no problems as of yet. Although recently I have been puzzeld as to why I am only boodting 5psi with the 3.12 pulley where as I used to boost at 9psi with it. I am also running rich 10.5 - 11's under boost...

I tightend the belt but that didnt do it. I am thinking about taking her in for a leak (smoke) test to see if the SSV has developed a leak but I thought that should in theory create a lean condition instead of the rich condition I am seeing.

Can the SS box "unlearn" a tune if you do a 12 hour disconnect on the battery?

Nope.

I wouldn't change to the UTEC unless you think there is a "need" to. No reason to spend more money on something that won't do much more for you than what you have now.

The boost issue probably has nothing to do with the SS box.

hmm, I'll try re-uploading my latest tune from my laptop onto the SS box and see if that does anything for the AFR's I guess.

there are vortech owners running stock injectors with the 3.12 pulley pushing around 8psi with no fuel issues what so ever. i have yet to see anyone running a vortech blow a motor due to fuel problems. i personally run a vortech with no return, as most people arent. performance factory would tell you the same. i win!

I have been running stock injectors with the 3.12 for over a year... I am going to the 2.87 and just do not think the stock will be sufficient with that pulley however.
