UTEC & Wideband
I'm new at the whole FI tuning. If I get a Utec would I still need a wideband? A member on the forums has a Utec and AEM wideband which enables him to display his readings on the stock navi screen. I'm thinking about doing the same thing but getting a Zeitronix wideband instead of the AEM. I like the Zeitronix screen, because I can hide it easily and I can temporarily the use it to monitor my readings until I buy some gauges. So is the Zeitronix compatible with the Utec? And is a wideband necessary?

Just to make things clear... If you are going to tune your car yourself, you gotta have the tuner wideband which TXS provides to properly datalog A/F with the UTEC... Other aftermarket widebands are not going to provide you with the info needed to tune.. If you do not get the tuner, you gotta have a shop tune for you..
Well.... Isn't it recomended not to tune off the factory widebands as they aren't very accurate? And if you do have a decent aftermarket wideband (that isn't the TXS Tuner), don't you have to run multiple connections to your laptop (1 for UTEC and 1 for the wideband)?
But yeah, you don't *need* the TXS Tuner to tune... It just makes it easier since it is native to the UTEC. The TXS Tuner connects directly to the UTEC via a serial cable.

After spending LOTS of time with both of those programs, even helping UTI with his coding, In My OWN Opinion, I would ONLY stick with the TXS Tuner..
No I am not an advocate for TXS.. Just going off of what I have experienced myself..
I like UTI as far as the eye candy goes. I think the author has the right idea and I don't regret buying a full copy to help support his efforts. But (at least with my copy of UTI) -- It's hard to make accurate adjustments to a tune with UTI logs because UTI lags a lot behind what the UTEC is actually doing at any given moment.
When I compare native UTEC logs to the actual tuning map, the values are spot on. Comparing my UTI logs to the actual tuning map and I see sever lag. So (at least in my case) I'm back to using the native UTEC serial dump for road tuning (which is what I believe most pro-tuners do anyway).
To tune in native UTEC mode, you do need a TXS Tuner module.
